Truth? It was all about control, and the highest bribe won the day.
Started in Ca Legislature, some company gave a shit load of cash and wanted the law changed so they could force people to buy their useless gas nozzle.
Remember the bull shit nozzle where you had to turn it, then push down with about 40 lbs of pressure before the gas would come out?

Then it took a long ass time to get the gas out, about 7 minutes for 5 gallons.
Yes, it changed absolutely nothing, but these commies got rich!!!
