Solar, I see you all are getting a lot of precipitation. How much is this snow pack and rain help the drought and reservoir situation? What can Newsom do to screw up any benefits?

A Lot! But despite the claim of Ca drought, we're actually doing quite well.
Feet of snow over the crest, ski lifts are opening and all is normal.
I got exactly 2 inches of rain yesterday, would have been two feet of snow but a warm front kept it at bay.

Problem with reservoir levels has nothing to do with reality. The state purposely releases more water than they should under the guise of protecting the environment.
Fortunately, with a huge snowpack beginning, and heavy rain accumulations feeding the rivers in the valley system, the state is forced to hold back releases form Folsom, Melones and especially Oroville.

If they didn't, there would be valley flooding. I love when nature throws a wrench in their machine.

I just know that a combination of Newsom and the Corps of Engineers is a recipe for disaster.

Yeah. They know if their media keeps screaming drought, people will believe it when they say it's the worst in 1000 years.
I've seen far worse in just the last 50 years. This is just normal weather cycling.

Remember just 4 years ago we had a 100 year record flooding, when Oroville dam nearly collapsed? And we're supposed to believe just a few years later we're in a massive historic drought?
It's called failed water management.

Thanx for your concern.

If all I had was a two wheel drive, yeah, I'd be sitting on my ass without options.
But everything I own is 4x4, so now I can sit on my ass and not worry about it because I have options.

It's not that we got a lot of snow, it's that it started to melt, then froze solid, this is the worst because the county doesn't clear the back roads, that's left up to the land owners.
Many of them suck, but a few of us go out and clear for the good people.

Yep. The refreeze situation can last for days.

Yeah, it's not that an individual can't get around, but it's when some of the younger girls try and drive here, they can't stop, the don't understand that crawling along the shoulder is better than driving in the middle at 15 mph is a disaster waiting to happen.

I say girls, because by nature, boys love the challenge of testing their skills in off road vehicles in the forest, so they are somewhat prepared.

There's no denying the difference in boys and girls.

We are do for freezing rain.
You can't walk but you can drive if you are careful.

  We're down to ten degrees, not normal for us. Had snow flurries all day yesterday, nothing stuck. Must be climate change. I noticed our winters are very different from our summers.

Front just went through here. The good news - no precipitation with it. Below freezing through Christmas.

Wish our spring and fall were longer. They're my favorite. This year summer started the beginning of May and lasted until mid October. With the drought we had to feed hay all year long. This year I'm going to toast the New Year with a shot of real whiskey and see if that helps.
