Domesticated Rats with antlers. (personal opinion)

When I was stationed in Monterey, you'd see herds roaming around. I'm sure it's still like that today considering the coast range is so close and they closed Ft Ord with thousands of acres of woods returned to its original state.

I bet they got a huge kick out of that. Wait for when the lions show up. :yikes

Where did they move from? is this culture shock?

Ive heard that in Australia kangaroos are as bad as deer are here...

I've heard that too, but I'd rather tangle with a deer, than a giant rodent with the strength of 10 men, with mitts that can slice you open in one blow.
If you've never seen the video of the Aussie saving his dog from the clutches of a Roo.

They are Army, This is the second time at Montery. Don't rember the deer the first time.
I dream of the day a chicken can cross the road with out it's motives being questioned.

Hmmmm, could be the screwed up hunting laws in the state.

Ca is a huge state. And as the deer populations grow, there grazing area does as well.
People feed them, they become domesticated and depend on the handouts. We all know what freebies do to man.

Yea. I was thinking the same thing. Alot of hand outs - "but they are so cute".

I agree, they are a beautiful animal..
Since I can afford food, I'd never drop one, but if times change, I'm eating venison.

Question: Have your kids been warned about ground water in the area?

I'm part of a class action suit against the army because they knowingly hid evidence that the chemicals they used at Ft Ord were well known carcinogens. They contaminated the ground water.

I now have myelofibrosis, Leukemia. I was wondering what the word on the street was in Monterey.

"They claim" it didn't make it to the Monterey aquifer, but I find that hard to believe.

Yep. It's also the area we lost Hi, our male cat cat to a lynx.
It's a very active area, with the creek on the left and an open road on the right and a heavily traversed trail leading off into the wilderness. Almost everything comes through there, which is why I posted a camera there.

I want to put one across the other side of the creek, but it's a long and rugged hike to change the chip.
I may still do it and leave it for each season, like 3 or 4 months at a time.
