Quote from: VVet69 on July 08, 2022, 12:48:06 PMRight now at my house it is 98 F with 55% RH and heat index of 117 F.  Been hot like this since around the last week in June.  The only good news here is that with all the humidity we are getting rain; the bad news is that it is mostly intense to severe thunderstorms. There was a 1000 yr flood event in Columbia, SC earlier this week - rained 4" in one hour downtown...
Man, that's some seriously unbearable heat!

Looks like we're finally hitting summer. This isn't my forecast, but it's close. They don't do one for my area, but we run about 5 degrees cooler than this in the day and 10 degrees cooler at night.
This is why I love the mountains. If I go down to the creek and sit in a chair in the smaller creek, it's always 76 degrees.
But winters are a real bitch. By November 12th, we'll be in full blown winter, only 4 months away. :glare:

Well, looks like Summer will go out with a bang.

Forecast temps compared to record highs for the same days in the past.
They're expecting all of these records to fall for the towns listed below.
These are all in Northern Ca.
Hell, I may even break 100 at my place, which is extremely unusual.

Man, it is hot as Hell here.
Last night we went to bed it was 87, awoke at 3:00 Am to skunk in the bedroom.
No, Lux had gone outside and got skunked, came in and laid down.

I was slammed awake by the stench. Temp had fallen to 67, not cool enough to last throughout the day in the house.
My neighbor who lives in the valley said he started work at 7:00 am, it was ninety five by 10:30 am, going to around 120 deg possibly today.
I don't remember ever drinking this much water ever.

Oh, and they'll probably shut down parts of the grid today. To think, these Marxists want you buying electric cars?

In just 3 days we went from 100 plus degrees and a fire that nearly took out my home and forest, to heavy rain and snow completely gutting the fire.
They refuse to call it contained, regardless.

But if this thing takes off again? It will be because some idiot thought they should backfire to prevent N/E spread.
Just watch, then follow the money!!!

Grateful for your rain and snow. What a little rain does to a wildfire shows how incapable man is in controlling nature.

BINGO!!!
Sure, they bust their butts working, but honestly? This was entirely avoidable and Nucellini planned for this.
Now the Fed will bail his ass out because it grew too big, as planned.

This is definitely one of those "Follow the money moments!"

We went from the mid 80s a few days ago, to 29 Degrees this morning.
I guess we're going straight into winter, though we seldom get much of a Fall here, suddenly the leaves turn, and a week  later, bang, they're gone.

I love winters here, but this may be one of those deep freeze years, below 0 ands highs, if we're lucky, in the single digits.
But it's always sunny.

Have y'all got around to breaking up that damn La Nina yet? We need rain.

I just read where they think it might just stick around another season, but they haven't a clue.
I'll let ya know depending on our weather patterns. personally I think we're in for a deep freeze winter here in the West, which means a lot of cold storms could dive out of the Artic and nail the East and mid interior.

Our fronts literally dive along the coast straight out of Alaska and turn East Right over Norcal, straight through my area. But it'll be sunny.....

Either way, cold hurts.

When they do break up, does it usually go fast or linger for months? Seems like we are going on our third year for little rain.

Call me odd, but I enjoy reading the arguments on the NWS weather blog, where meteorologists go back and forth over what they think will happen.
At this point the computers are saying both. One says one more year of it, while the other says it will break mid winter.
And humans are all over the map, with a small majority agreeing that it will end shortly and return to normal weather.

Some have an obvious agenda concerning AGW, while others always set them straight with math; like us arguing with facts against libs.

If it does break mid winter, I'll get hit with cold and heavy snows, tapering off with a lot of rain for the year.
I bought a new weather device called the Tempest. This thing is extremely advanced compared to all the others I'v bought in the past.
For one thing, it doesn't catch rain, no moving parts and requires virtually no maintenance.
It doesn't watch the rain in a container, it listens to the drops hit its outer casing.
Solar cells keep the lithium batteries charged for up to 1o years, so I could stick it on a tree top and forget it.

Here's my address... https://tempestwx.com/station/85289/
But you may not be able to see it unless you register with the site.
Pretty amazing how many around the world have this being so new on the Mkt. I don't know if you can see this global map, but if you can, I'm Peaceful Mtn Rd in the Sierra.

I've spent thousands on weather centers over the years, and if this thing works as good as they say it does, it will be the last station I ever buy again.

I have never seen a station that also gives a forecast. Hope La Nina breaks up pretty soon.

Solar

It has a learning curve as AI's go, I don't know how long it takes, but they say it reads all the other stations within a certain Circumference.
They are vague as to how large an area, considering I'm right on the edge of the National forest, with miles of wilderness beyond.
