I can't speak for today, but in my day, yes, we had all of that.
I took auto shop and didn't even drive yet, but I still learned a lot.

Never took auto shop. I just wanted verification of shop class being cancelled. Makes sense. Can't have people being independent.

I was Was involved in whatever that marketing class was, and was able to leave school early to go to work. Everybody was eligible to go to the state conference. That dance was fun. Slow dancing with a random chicken while in the video projectors path. I believe it was a George Michael's "One More Try" on the screen.

I also remember the vending machine at the hotel wanting 75 cents for a can of soda. I was pissed.

I do remember how it all started. I think it may have been 1969 when tort laws changed, schools were afraid of lawsuits.
We were given slips to take home asking for a nine dollar contribution towards insurance so we could keep certain activities.
Of course my parents refuse to pay, but suffice it to say, after I left school, they did away with pole vaulting, took down the rope climb, trampolines disappeared etc.
I heard they did away with crafts, metal shop and wood shop as well, even PE became voluntary.

Is it any wonder we have a generation of pussies?

Can't help but think air conditioning had something to do with that. We stayed outside, period. Even slept outside, at least until it cooled off enough to go in. 

Do they still have Home Ec. ?

Yep, I grew up without AC, and the Sacto. Valley spent most of the summer hovering around 100 degrees, give or take 10 degrees either direction.

Very True, We had Metal,& Woodworking in 7th 8th and 9th Grade, Girls had home economics and the real lucky few got to go to auto shop. This was in the mid 60's. But I remember Virginia school system asking for donations of old messed up cars and trucks for the kids to fix in the mid 80's
