Trees just might be the ultimate renewable resource. Having run many roads in the South I have witnessed how trees are harvested and replanted for another harvest.

Same here. We need this industry the Klintoin admin killed off under the guise of their acclaimed spotted owl.

And, after having worked in the USFS genetics lab, I discovered the govt is now breeding trees that mature within 25 years, instead of 100, specifically, yellow pine and fir.

I remember a fire I worked 30 years back, watched the replanting, and was amazed at the growth rate of the trees over the years.
It is now ready for harvest.

The downside to screwing with the genetics is, they only live about 45 years.
I planted one of these genetically manipulated trees on my property, it literally surpassed every tree on my property, around 150' tall and will probably peak at 210'. All the other trees are decades older and they're dwarfed.
Sad part is, it's yellow pine, pretty much worthless as a single tree, no value in fire wood and they closed all the mills, so no one will buy it.
When it falls it will take out at least a dozen dougfir and leave a scar on the mountain side all the way to the creek.

Cedar pollen here is sticky as Hell, the pine tends to be more gritty and hard on the eyes.
