He was, what we used to call beatnik, back in the day.
They were, the predecessor to the hippies, and Carlin always had it in for "Da Man", the so called "elite" of the day, because he saw corruption everywhere, but nowhere near what it is today, but he saw it coming.
That's why later Carlin's stuff became popular.
His real early stuff was out there, but truth is, he was generally always Right, in a sense.
