IMHO, That is exactly how they act at home, and that is the answer to "Do they care about anyone other than themselves". Why do they vote for communism? From what they have been led to believe, no responsibility, never held accountable, someone else owes them a living and everything else, they never need to better themselves in order to achieve anything because the government will provide.

 They believe that the government also agrees with them and will hold accountable all those evil people who have been holding them down by not giving them a decent wage for jobs that require no education or job skills. The government will punish all those evil people who have offended them by taking away all of their rights while allowing them to agree with what the government tells them.

Meanwhile evil capitalism only allows you to acquire and achieve what your ability, education, and skills take you.

If you have no desire to better yourself, if you blame others for your failures, if you demand others owe you a living, why not vote for the communism that they have been led to believe exists.  We know that is not what communism is, but we are not brainwashed.  And I believe it is that same thinking  why they do not want the constitution. the constitution restricts the very government that they want to have total control over their lives.
