Seemingly overnight, a large segment of America has gone insane. We're not talking about the culture of paranoia and safety that has metastasized in the wake of COVID-19 hysteria. We're talking about the ideological shift, particularly on cultural issues, that has occurred since the start of the Obama Administration.

To pick an easy example, it would have been fairly uncontroversial even five years ago to say that men should not be allowed to compete in women's sports, regardless of what they might subjectively "identify as." And yet, this is now a subject contention across a number of sports, including mixed martial arts and powerlifting. What's more, having the wrong opinion and expressing it publicly might make you the subject of a public shaming, up to and including losing your job and being de facto blacklisted from your industry.

The point isn't to litigate the specific topic of trans identified men competing in women's sports. We use this only as one example of a broader cultural shift. Another, far more troubling development, is how quickly a significant and powerful minority of Americans grew to believe that America is a fundamentally racist country and that white Americans are somehow uniquely evil by virtue of their birth.

Both of the above are extreme viewpoints and would have been recognized as such even five years ago. Now, one can have one's name blackened for taking the wrong viewpoint.

But this change did not come out of nowhere. In fact, it's the product of decades of indoctrination of generations of Americans through what is called "education." We use scare quotes here, because there is little evidence that American schools educate their students anymore – if, by education, we mean imparting knowledge rather than ideology.

This isn't simply something to handwave away as "those crazy kids on college campuses and their left-wing professors." Generations of far-left indoctrination have created a critical mass of Americans openly hostile toward American values and the very notion of liberty itself. If one is looking for an explanation for how we got to this point, a deep and critical view of education – from kindergarten through post-graduate – is in order.

The punchline? You're paying for it in the form of America's student loan program, which is little more than a massive welfare program for universities with multi-billion dollar endowments.

It began long before the Obama fiasco. In fact the Obama fiasco was a result of the process that began as far back as the FDR administration if not before.
It was well undeway when I went to school and I'm a boomer.

------------------------------------------
It began at least 2 centuries before FDR, birthed by the revolutionary
disease promoted by the French Enlightenment. So let's reflect on history.
The Ancient Geeks, self-evidently, the wisest who ever walked this earth;
created History, Literature (Comedy, Tragedy, the Novel, Poetry......),
Philosophy & Logic, Geometry, Architecture, Science (Botany, Biology,
Medicine, Physics.....), Competitive Athletics (Olympics), Representative Governance (the Republic); among numerous intellectual disciplines.
And what were the catalysts /drivers birthing their unsurpassed genius, huh??? THEY WERE SELF TAUGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omigod, think how deprived those poor souls were w/o the degrees our modern credentialed education system offers, to tell us who is smart ??
Laer the Romans made them their mentors, followed by the Medieval Scholastics for some 8 centuries and later those of the Renaissance.
In the 17 humndgeds  the enlightenment dawon for Man emphsizing material betterment as his highrt callinf a fatefuolturning we are psying for tillthis very moment.

Actually I think the greeks created democracy not the republican form of representarive government that we are supposed to enjoy in this nation. Democracy is but a step from socalism. What you want is for everyone who contributes to have a say, not everyone including deadbeats and freeloaders.
I'm all for a flat tax where everyone who pays taxes directs how the money that they paid is is spent directly and take the checkbook away from the politicians. Of course that would automatically leave the deadbeats and freeloaders with no say at all.
Crazy but not stupid!

Teachers, and intellectuals, have probably gravitated toward communist thinking since the dawn of time. Resentment that they're not paid as much as people who actually produce things.

My apologies for the chaos of my initial post which was borderline incoherent because of misspellings. We're experiencing power outages because of the weather which are
wreaking chaos on the internet/computers. Anyway...........
--------------
For the Ancient Greeks, "democracy" was anathema, which they utterly rejected.
Greek culture/society was hierarchical, rejecting the nostrum that "All Men are Equal."
Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, among dozens, asserted the natural inequality of each and every one of us for eternity, because of the astonishing miracle of creation.
It was this inequality that sparked the creative impulse in Man permitting him, his culture and society to survive and thrive. That is the very theme of Plato's Republic.
It was the Enlightenment revolutionaries led by Rousseau, followed in the next century by the likes of Marx and Engels who promoted their Egalitarian horse manure which
has inundated worldwide governance ever since and infinitely for the worse.

Had a discussion with my college enrolled daughter the other day (she's in her Jr. year), involving economics. Apparently the college "Professors" of economics are not teaching that a National debt is bad, has to be paid back, has any limits nor accrues any interest. Our kids are being brainwashed that countries can accrue as much debt as they like with no consequences whatsoever on the country, its citizens, its economy, etc. This is how the Marxists are getting their social programs passed, as the "representatives" grow up believing as their college professors brainwashed them, that there were no limits to debt.

This explains a great deal of things.

Maybe they should be teaching their shit in Venesula and see how it goes over

Well one thing I can say, there were some great thinkers and bullshitters back in the day centuries ago.  The produced nothing, except their thoughts.  The great thinkers had access to the same materials that Europeans later used to create the World we have today.

Maybe the navel gazing shit for brains in todays schools and colleges are angry.  They, for the most part, are useless for anything meaningful.  A leak under the sink, call a plumber, is a perfect example.  So the sit there and ponder, all the while staring at their polished tasseled shoes, bitter, angry little men with penis envy.  Their wives day dream about some brute having his way with them, just to see what sex is like.  These sorry little men have no meaning life.  The frustration of being a hapless chump leads them to have the desire to ruin the next generations so they can be as miserable as they are.

Great thinkers should stick to writing books, not teaching the next generation, as they have nothing to offer to better the next generations.  But when the need for brawn, grit, common sense and getting your hands dirty is required, these professors fall way short.  I'm generalizing, no offense to any teacher/professor that has ever bloodied his knuckles trying to break a lug nut loose.

I don't have degrees in nice picture frames hanging in my study, not sure I have a study, but when something breaks, who do they call?  Nut Busters, that's who.

Amazing how the Republicans insist on supporting the student loan program because it is the #1 funding source for the Democrats.

then why tax people? Maybe her "professor" could explain. Why should anyone else need a paycheck, we could all just increase our personal debt.

I also bet your daughter is not falling for any of what her professor is teaching.

I believe that she sees through the lies and the hyperbole BUT, in order to pass the class(es), you have to agree with the professors (at least in class).

As far as taxes go, I'm sure that the lefties would claim that it's to "distribute the wealth evenly", even though stealing from one to give to another is theft. Lefties always seem to have rhetoric for every situation even if it makes no sense, doesn't add up or is a blatant lie. Look at the ridiculous excuses given for the election fraud!
