I don't understand the love affair the right has with the police? They are the ones who will arrest you for expressing your rights while letting rioters burn and destroy. They are the ones who will come for our guns when given the order. They are the ones who will arrest you for not wearing your mask. They stand by and let mobs reign terror and if you fight back you will be the one in jail. Somebody explain this to me.

Conservatives respect the law, not so much police who are hired by political appointees, but sheriff, US Marshals, Etc, the ones who will uphold the Constitution.
It did end peacefully because the negotiator was under orders to keep this from getting out of control. So yes, it is this respect that kept cooler heads intact.

My concern is that they could easily become the strong arm that will be enforcing their bosses tyranny.

In NYC, the police are recruited on a racial basis. And apparently straight from the city gangs. Old cops, Irish, and Italians are retiring and recruiting, instead Mexicans, Caribbean and Muslim boys and girls.

With good intentions, of course ...

When the left makes a big deal about something it usually means the opposite. "Defund the police".... my ass. The left needs them to enforce their dismantling of our constitutional rights. I would not be surprised that just like our schools, fbi, cia etc. they have silently infiltrated the police. Wouldn't it be a shame.
