Temperatures in Death Valley, California, reached 130 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, as local utilities barely managed to maintain power to the state in the midst of a heat wave.

The 130º reading is one of the highest temperatures ever recorded at the site — and the hottest temperature recorded on earth since 1913.

The National Weather Service tweeted: "Per the climate data in xmACIS2, this is the first time since 1913 that Death Valley has reached 130F. In July 2013, it last reached 129F. If valid, it would be the hottest August temperature at the site by 3F."

Just so you know, even if the wind gusts and produces power, it really can't be used because it causes switching issues, so unless the wind is steady for hours, they don't even bother kicking it in.
Hydro, nuclear and Ng are the only mainstays that count.

There is currently high demand for electricity across the state, as the entire West Coast has been hit by a heat wave and record-breaking temperatures.

One reason the state lacked power, officials admitted, was its over-reliance on "renewables" — i.e. wind and solar power.

There was not enough wind to keep turbines going, Newsom said, and cloud cover and nightfall restricted solar power.
