Florida homeowner shoots 3 home intruders, 2 fatally: sheriff
Homeowner was exercising his Second Amendment right to defend himself, sheriff says

A teen was facing charges for a would-be armed home invasion robbery in Florida in which his two accomplices were shot and killed and he was wounded, authorities said.

The person who shot them was the homeowner victim who had a gun and used it to defend himself when he encountered the intruders in his home in Wesley Chapel shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

"The victim in this case was exercising his Second Amendment right to protect himself in his home," Nocco said.

Nailed it. If the republicans ever take up police reform again on the federal level, I would hope one of the first items would be to get the police chief out of the control of the mayor and the council. Let the people elect them. How many times have we seen cases where the council has no clue what they are doing.

If the people can not vote the police chief out, the people have no control of the police chief and law and order.

I have been thinking we should separate the police from city hall. No mayor or city council should ever have the power to effect law enforcement. The law is the law.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street I'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.
This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.
How come nobody was interested in educating people about these rights until online videos got monetization?

The first time I found out the police chief was appointed, I was dumbstruck. To me, it would be like a Star Chamber selecting who should be watched, as in secret society.
The whole concept was foreign to me.
To this day, many decades later, I still don't grasp the constitutionality of it because they are allowed to write policing policy, like a drug cartel hiring security staff then threatening the town if they don't comply to his rules and demands.

Yes, definitely time for a revamping of the system. The people of Seattle chop zone would tell you how they couldn't count on the police for protection, because the police do not answer to the people, they answer to some lowly power hungry Marxist wannabe Mayor.

No doubt this is going to become a major issue in all the liberal run hell holes. As these cities de-fund their police departments, the honest citizens who can afford to will be moving out to where there is law and order. These hell holes will become a no mans land.

Exactly! NY and Seattle are seeing an exodus of smart people bailing and taking their businesses with them to friendlier and safer states.
I wonder if changing this "appointed" bull shit will be in Trump's reform proposal?

? hard to say, once power is given it is hard to take away. No democrat will vote for it. Police chiefs do not stand for the 2nd amendment, and neither do the liberals councils.

I wonder if there's an old House Bill dealing with this very thing that the Senate could take up that Trump could sign?
Anyway, whatever Trump does IE, Executive order.

I don't think an executive order could withstand a court challenge, but it sure would get the message out in the open. I would love to see a vote in congress, it would damn sure separate the conservatives from the rinos and democrats. Something I think the people would like to see too. Democrats are defiantly on the wrong side on this whole police issue. Just one more reason to expect a landslide.
