Barr testifies 'spying did occur' on Trump campaign, amid reported review of informant's role

Attorney General Bill Barr testified Wednesday that he believes "spying did occur" on the Trump campaign in 2016, as he vowed to review the conduct of the FBI's original Russia probe -- and the focus of a related internal review shifted to the role of a key FBI informant.

The comments follow a new report that the Justice Department's internal watchdog also is scrutinizing the role of an FBI informant who contacted members of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election, as part of a broader review of the early stages of the Russia investigation. The New York Times reported that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz is looking into informant Stefan Halper's work during the Russia probe, as well as his work with the FBI prior to the start of that probe.

I heard the exchange and it had to send some chills up some spines in Washington. This guy is smart and no nonsense. This whole adventure might be close to backfiring on democrats.

I have a feeling many things are being looked at and some we would be surprised about as well.  Trump is just waiting to drop the bomb at the strategically chosen time.

Taxed and I were discussing just that. Trump will time this to have the most effect, be it narrative stealing from the left or election timing, he won't waste the opportunity to inflict the optimum amount of damage and he is justified, considering why the left did it in the first place, to destroy our Nation.

On a different note...if I was in an ear shot of this spying against Trump I would wanna see the whole report in full just to see if my name is associated in any form. Maybe that's why the people screaming the loudest are the ones with their hands in the cookie jar of spying.

This could be good for Trump and bad for the Dems IF the spying was found to be illegally procured. Barr did say he was not sure yet if the procedures to allow this were done properly and the answer to that question will be where the rubber meets the road.

The laugh out loud part comes when the democrats and the FBI itself said how can there be "spying" when we (the FBI) don't use that term or better yet word "spying" except in foreign affairs then and only then is the word "spying" appropriate.....

Also democratic staff counsel Valerie Shen asked some questions that basically shocked ex-FBI agent Bill Priestap. I can see Priestap now making faces and scratching head head thinking to himself WTF....who side are you on lady.

FBI Man's Testimony Points to Wrongdoing Well Beyond Spying

Attorney General William Barr shocked official Washington Wednesday by saying what previously couldn't be said: That the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign in 2016 involved "spying."

The spying, which Barr vowed to investigate, is not the only significant possible violation of investigative rules and ethics committed by agents, lawyers, managers, and officials at the FBI and the Department of Justice.
