We had an early Spring, then a  late season snow storm come right at planting time, and the cold and clouds stayed another month.
We got screwed this year, and all the local orchards are closed as well.
It wasn't a good year for the Sierra, but the Sacto. valley below us did well.

Plant an early and a late harvest crop. I plant corn in mid to late April and again in mid June. I plant corn twice because that is what I supplement the livestock feed with. You can do the same with just about any food crop. That way if the weather effs with ya, you still have a shot at some of your crop making it. One plant I've never had a problem with is jalapeno's, hell, they'll grow under just about any condition, but about 6 plants is all ya need. You can only eat so many jalapeno's. :))
