And he'll get away with it. Remember his comment about killing someone in public, and his supporters would still be there to support him?
Well, nothing has changed, and even when he stated he'll work with Dreamers, they'll still find a way to justify it.
Good or bad, if he can play it to his advantage he will, but he walks a tightrope as he does it.

Let's get a few facts straight.

Boeing was asked to submit a bid for contract on two new planes to serve as Air Force One and/or Two, with construction to begin sometime in 2018. (Not sure if any other plane manufacturers were also asked to bid, this may be a no-competition bid since Boeing has been providing planes for AF1 since the 40s.)  Boeing did offer their bid, with a price tag of $4B for two aircraft built on the 747e airframe.

Trump comes along and says that bid is too high and will not be accepted.

While you are correct that there is no contract with Boeing, you are incorrect that Trump lied, since the issue at hand is with regard to Boeing's BID, not the contract itself.

Of course, it's all hubris at this time, since Trump hasn't the authority to turn down the bid at this time. It is entirely possible that Obama could green light the bid before leaving office, just to spite Trump, similar to the way Ford okayed the B1 bomber program, even though then president-elect Carter had promised to cancel it during his campaign for president.

If Obama allows the bid process to go through normal channels, Trump will have the opportunity to officially tell Boeing to issue a new bid after inauguration day.

IF he doesn't flip on the issue, of course.

If memory serves, Clinton and Bush both accepted Airbus bids, but nothing came of it, outside of protests from Americans. And rightly so.
But they can still bid.

As many trivia buffs know, Air Force One is a military call number given to any aircraft carrying the sitting commander-in-chief. There are actually two identical presidential planes, and when the president takes an overnight trip, the back-up aircraft is always within a 30-minute trip away "in case there's a problem with the primary airplane," Haigh said.

Counter-measured by a manufactured I'm offended post.

" We want to see Boeing make money, but not that much money. "  -DJT   Sounds cautiously conservative to me.

-Know what the 'AF' in AFO stands for?  Then comprehend what I said about being on the phone with The Secretary Of The Air Force...  That's who's presenting the deal to Trump.  Not Boeing's CEO.

How is this "cautiously conservative"?

Cautiously conservative would be:

Boeing is a business, we want them to make as much profit as they can

However, it's a government contract, so the government should be saving as much of the taxpayers money as they can

The balance of the two incentives (to make as much profit as possible and to save as much of the taxpayers money as possible) will dictate what the cost of the two planes will be.
