Chairman Trey Gowdy knew about Clinton’s secret server six months ago

In Washington's best headline-grabbing fashion, Chairman Gowdy leaped on the latest Clinton scandal to announce that his Benghazi committee, on Wednesday, issued subpoenas for all of Clinton's communications related to Libya. On the same day, the committee subpoenaed the State Department "for other individuals who have information pertinent to the investigation," and issued "preservation letters" to telecom firms directing them to retain potentially relevant documents. What on earth took them so long? In announcing the new subpoenas, Gowdy, a highly experienced prosecutor with a real courtroom flair, offered his signature biting barbs that sweep conservatives off their feet. Mrs. Clinton "did not use personal email in addition to government e-mail," he inveighed, "she used personal e-mail in lieu of government e-mail." He authoritatively explained that she had more than one private e-mail account. He scalded the State Department for its inability to account for Clinton's communications because they neither have them nor control access to them — only Clinton does.

Just the fiery outrage we've come to expect from Congressman Gowdy. But for all the big wind, there never seems to be much rain. Speaking of which, Gowdy let something else slip while unburdening himself to Politico: he and his committee have known since last summer that Mrs. Clinton conducted business by private e-mail. So what you're just finding out now, Gowdy has known for at least six months. So what did he do about it? According to Politico, "He said the committee has worked with Clinton advisers and the department to gain access to documents relating to the Benghazi attacks."

He needs to explain everything about the Committee's actions during his opening-statements...

Prosecutors are committed to manuevering in due diligence.  Because information obtained by investigation usually arrives out-of-sequence in relation to the crime's timeline.  And they probably have to prove that Clintstone did not act, at any point, to stop the crimes from continuing.

So that it'll be obvious she was responsible for the crimes and their continuance.

I'm not defending Gowdy, but that's how he'll probably explain the molasses-pace of the investigation.

I'm not sure how much power these congressional committees have.  Gowdy has been trying in vain to get the State Dept to turn over ALL of the emails.

I believe it didn't come to light that Hillary had a private server until a hacker brought it to their attention.  Six months is nothing in Clinton land where they are pros at lying, avoiding, obfuscation, hiding, cheating, etc.

The longer this gets drug through the media, the more we find out, and the more Hillary's numbers go down.  Just yesterday we found out the server was kept in a loft apt in Denver, and that Hillary sent a thumb drive in a safe to her lawyer.

They always say the cover up is worse than the crime.  Hillary worked on the Nixon impeachment, and Bill got impeached for lying.  You would think they would have learned that by now, but they can't help themselves.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

QuoteClinton's Email Brag

Here's what happened: The State Department says that on Aug. 11, 2014, it gave the House Select Committee on Benghazi 15,000 pages of documents that had been requested by prior congressional committees investigating the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on a diplomatic facility and CIA outpost in Benghazi. The 15,000 pages of documents included only eight emails to or from Clinton, according to the committee's interim report.

"Some of these emails indicated that the Secretary used a private email account to communicate about official government business," the report said. "Other emails gave no indication whether the email account used was private or a government account."

In October 2014, the State Department asked Clinton to submit to the department any work-related emails in her possession.

On Nov. 18, 2014, the committee requested more "documents from the former Secretary's non-government email account," as the State Department explained in a timeline of events that was included in a letter to the committee. (At about the same time, on Nov. 4, 2014, investigative reporter Jason Leopold filed a FOIA request with the department seeking Clinton's emails, according to a suit he filed in January.)

Asked why the State Department sought the emails from Clinton in October, department spokeswoman Marie Harf said, "Of course, we have worked closely with the select committee and with Congress on this, have been transparent and provided as much as we can in response to their requests, so certainly, that's a factor. But I would not say – as we've said now a few times, it was not any one thing that prompted this."

On Dec. 5, 2014, the Clinton campaign gave the State Department just over 30,000 printed copies of work-related emails.

It wasn't until March 2 that the New York Times reported on Clinton's unusual email arrangement. Clinton asked the State Department on March 5 to publicly release her emails and addressed the brewing controversy at a press conference on March 10.

Two days after Clinton's press conference, Republican Sens. Bob Corker, Ron Johnson and Richard Burr sent a letter to the inspector general of the State Department, asking that his office conduct a review in coordination with the inspector general of the intelligence community to determine whether classified information was sent or received by State employees over personal email systems.

Seems Gowdy is the driving force behind Hillary's E-mail problems. I don't see where he is hiding anything. If it wasn't for his committee we would never have found out about this!!

It seems we have various possibilities here:

1. Trey Gowdy quietly obtained a year ago all the info he needs, and is letting Hillary hang herself with a cover up,

2. Trey Gowdy is dragging this out so that Hillary will be prosecuted at the exact time in the election cycle when it will harm the Democrats the most,

3. Trey Gowdy is actually helping Hillary the same way special prosecutor Ken Starr helped Bill Clinton: he threw the book at everyone who actually provided any real info against Clinton, and went easy on everyone who stonewalled the investigation.
