How can these nightmare cities be turned around?  What would it take?

First it would take PROSECUTOR's and CIty Father's with a set of cojones to clean up the mess. In Chicago you'd have to fire everybody and get rid of their entrenched network and start afresh.

COps would have to be allowed to target the criminal gangs with the full support of the prosecutors office who would have keep the ward bosses out of it and let the cops do their jobs, work along side them and be available 24/7 for approval of warrants, wire taps etc etc..

To effectively do this you would have to change the way the cops operate, a uniformed cop assigned to a fixed piece of real estate (like they been doing for the last 180 years) belongs back in antique times. You'd need special squads able to cross jurisdictional lines and harry the bad guys wherever they turn up.

All these gangs are highly organized, they have plenty of corrupt lawyers, corrupt officials(community organizers) and yes corrupt cops who help them operate, to get around that you'd have handpicked squad members....something like the untouchables....

Handpicked by whom, for what motives? I wouldn't bet amounts Obama's DOJ would pick the best troops for the task.

You would have to have a qualified Moral body of concerned citizens empowered to make such decisions, that is why I say the current group of rat packs calling themselves city councilmen and Mayors would have to be the first to go.

The last people you want involved at this point is the DOJ or any other Fed too many of them are in cahoots with street gangs like the New BPP or Chicago thugs like the el ruken's etc.

I sense a disconnect between "qualified moral body" and "completely effective results," if perps are allowed to live. That's the ONLY scare that seems to actually work: certainty of fatal punishment. Certainty of jail? Nah. Call that graduate school....including Camp Cupcake for the pols. So if you let them live you then need morally-responsible prosecutors and judges, and if that doesn't start sounding like the same Salem Witch Trials which killed one of my ancestors, then I don't know what does.

Sheesh. Where we gonna find a modern Elliot Ness, anyway? And how would we know he hasn't been gotten-to, as are so many present-day Republicans we could all cheerfully name.

Or, you could legalize all drugs, tax them and heavily regulate the people who produce and sell them.

That has had the net effect of killing off just about every other American Industry, from steel to auto making to textiles and shipbuilding, etc, etc, etc, in this country!

That's how you create another underground economy. You would create the same need we have today.

I don't think legalization would work.  Even Colorado is still having black market marijuana.  Gangs are also responsible for a lot of illegals guns, prostitution, kiddie porn, theft, property destruction, mob violence, etc.  Gang culture as a way of life seems to be mainstream in a lot of these cities.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Really?

Are there underground textile mills, auto plants, shipyard or steel mills somewhere I haven't heard of?

'Black Market' Marijuana Sales Thrive In Colorado

QuoteLegal sales of Recreational Marijuana (RM) were supposed to reduce Black Market demand for the drug, but have had the opposite effect.

"It's actually benefited the Black Market. Prices are going up," a seller told the W-P.

Marijuana prices in Colorado had been falling since Y 2009, then when it became legal to sell in dispensaries for RM use earlier this year, the prices shot up, partly to pay taxes imposed by the state.

Illegal Marijuana does not come with taxes, so the Black Market began to thrive again.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

I wasn't sure.  I know there are a lot of people who think we should legalize drugs.  I'm not in that camp myself.

Lemme get this straight you want to replace one form of regulation with another in hopes that a completely out of control criminal element (including a largely foreign criminal element) will comply with tax laws and regulations.....

No, but there IS an underground drug business. "REGULATION" and taxes won't change what we have now.  Silly, naive boy   (I doubled your eye roll)
