Greece tallies up the WWII reparations bill

Greece owes Germany billions of euros. Or is it the other way around? Seventy years after the end of World War II, Athens and Berlin are still at odds over costs incurred during the Nazi occupation of Greece.

Never in history has any people group been so fixed upon restoring the past.

It is what it is.  Why can't we move on like people have done for centuries.  If you have been abused or lost your land through aggressive enemies, focus upon the future.... not the past.  No one owes you anything!  Life can be cruel ...... and frequently is!  Pull up your boot straps and get going.

WWII was a very long time ago.  I think the statues of limitation have run out.
If you have not settled the matter by now, quit whining and write it off the books.

War is hell. To the victors goes the spoils, except when defeated by the USA. We help rebuild what we destroyed. In the cases of Germany and Japan that is OK in my view.

What about the case of Iraq and Afghanistan?

The world has changed and no good deed goes unpunished.

Sounds to me like Greece is searching for excuses to cancel the loans from Germany that has kept them from total collapse this past decade.

Bluetick

Greece is the grasshopper and Germany is the ant. Greece wanted a socialist utopia with free stuff for everyone. But as Margaret Thatcher said, the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money. That's what this is all about. Greece is trying to get more 'other people's money'. Germany will never get paid back.

By the way, Germany just made a big loan to Eksom to keep the lights on in South Africa. Think they'll ever see that money again?
