Of course it did.  It was an inquiry regarding a possibly phony or incorrect SS#
being used by a resident alien to obtain employment.  And Whitman and her husband
knew about it even though they claimed that they didn't right up until the letter
was produced with his handwritten note on the letter.  You'd think that the
"tough on immigration" candidate would be aware of or recollect such a letter,
especially after denying that she was aware of it right up until the time that it
was produced by the maid's attorney (whom I dislike) for all to see.

None of this has been proven..

Maybe they thought someone was using her SS number.
You forget, they were paying this lady high wages, even for Southern Ca, and they trusted the woman implicitly.
If you were looking to hire an illegal, wouldn't you pay as little as possible?

Wasn't this maid found through a legitimate employment service?

Yep, but were supposed to think she specifically wanted an illegal, so she could pay her an above average wage.

Good illegals are hard to find, especially ones you can trust to help raise your children.

So Whitman claims to know nothing about her maid being an illegal alien,
all but accuses her maid of stealing a letter from Social Security re: her immigration status
so that Whitman and her husband wouldn't know that she was an illegal,
and then when the letter turns up with her husband's handwritten note acknowledging
receipt of the letter, she tap dances around the issue as if she has no responsibility
for hiring an illegal alien and then lying about not knowing about it?  She's going down in flames.

Welcome back, Governor Brown!

You are aware that the handwritten note from the husband said something like, "Take care of this".   From what I understand, the Whitman's thought it was a mistake, which you do know occasionally happens when working with fed employees, don't you?  The Whitman's never did get a follow up letter, did they?  If I had been them, I would have assumed that the maid had taken care of it.

If the maid's an illegal, why is she still in the country now that it's all been discovered?  II'll admit I haven't read all of the respnses yet, and maybe that's already been mentioned..
