A 9th grade biology teacher used an unusual method of teaching blood types and DNA.  It was called Whose Your Daddy?  The assignment was to determine paternity of an individual using DNA, but reportedly this biology teacher stepped on some toes with homework assignment.

This is obviously an isolated example. However, it does reflect the mentality of many of our teachers in public education today. That is the issue, with unions, too many teachers they have free reign to try these type teaching methods. Another example why need vouchers and put some competition into good education.

No matter the situation there is always one person, or a few, who complain
and the powers that be always bend to the will of the one or the few.
(Some will think the assignment a bit racist I believe, not me.)
"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God. "Certainly," said man. "Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God. And He went away.

I think this teacher did nothing wrong. Be it right or wrong, I believe the
best teachers are those that can make the subject interesting and get
the kids engaged and want to learn. I suspect this teacher's students
acquire a little knowledge.
