This is unbelievable.  I have my own theories about why non-white people do not visit national parks, but would rather not speculate at this time.

So what do you think or is this just a complete waste of time?????

For the 15 years we have traveled all over the Western half of the U.S for 3 to 6 months at a time.  The last two year we did not as my wife started having heart problems, so we only get out for a week or two at a time.    But I see non-white people all over in our parks and national parks, but then I Am a People Watcher.

Our favorite vacation spot is Morro Bay State Park.  We used to camp there with RV.  I noticed many Orientals fishing in bay.  Also there are Hispanics too who also fish off pier.  We live close to Sierra Nevada mountains and always see lots of Hispanics camping around the lake and Kern River.  They seem to love fishing while their kids swim and play in water.

Those non-whites who are not able to visit parks is probably due to fact of finances or driving skills or lack thereof.  I know I should not stereotype, but the facts verify that these people are lousy drivers and usually drive off road into the steep canyon below.  90% of our accidents on steep mountainous roads are caused by non-white drivers.

It could be that black people just don't want to be on the west coast when the big one hits, or near the next Cascade volcano to blow, or nowhere near Yellowstone when it wipes out the western half of the country. East and Gulf coast hurricanes are bad enough!

Terminology is the key. You will not be disparaged for pointing out that members of certain minority groups can't drive. Not because it's demonstrably true, and not because it isn't actually a racial stereotype -- of course, it is both true and stereotypical. But you will receive a pass because your statement does not put down the One Protected Race, the only race upon whose members can be visited acts of actual racism.

The absolute truth of what I just said lies in the fact that you know, without my saying, exactly who and what I'm talking about.

You know, I never drove until I was near middle age, and moved out of the city. You don't need to in NYC.

You know, TboneAgain.  When I talk about lousy drivers, I am referring to the Hispanic population.  With their propensity for speeding, running red lights, complete disregard for all CA's right-of-way laws and let's not forget that they love to get behind the wheel after drinking a 12-pack of beer with pint of Tequila, well you know what happens then.   Every day we read about horrible accidents caused by these people.  We write to our congressmen to stiffen the penalty for driving under influence, but still they do not listen.  Just recently a repeat offender with 3 DUI's suspended license, aggravated assault charges, domestic violence and still he only did about 6 months in jail.  So he is out free to cause more accidents -- unbelievable.

Sorry if I got carried away, but this is a hot issue here in CA.  Also most of the repeat drunk drivers are illegal immigrants, adding insult to injury, so to speak.

Lets be clear, they're Mexicans, and they are illegals to boot.
Hispanic is a product of the left to make Mexicans look like a bigger demographic in the US than they really are.
There really is no such thing as a Hispanic.

If people want to visit our national parks, they will. If they don't, they won't. If anything make people aware they exist through advertising or something, which I know is being done already, and leave it at that.

Maybe it's because I'm not racist, but I usually don't pay much attention to the racial makeup of other visitors.

Same here. I could care less what race someone is, as long as they leave the park the way they found it, glad to see people are interested in our history as well as it's wilderness beauty.

They can't. If they do, they admit there's no need for special treatment. Boom! There goes their advantage with blacks.

Hispanics? Orientals? Native Americans? Wash, rinse, repeat...

Here's the one I can't figure out -- women! They have equal rights in every respect under the law, and they represent a majority of the population. Yet Democrats patronize them relentlessly, and have them convinced they need (Democrat) assistance, and deserve special 'minority' status or its equivalent. It reminds me of the antebellum practice of counting a black slave man as 3/5 of a man.

How can a park be "racist"? what kind of moron wrote this article and what planet  are they from? Are they aware that tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of Hispanics  "visit" or rather tresspass in our National parks in the dozen or so Parks in the SW region?

Are they aware that Park rangers and staff have been assaulted and even killed dealing with the illegal pot growing mexican gangs that infest certain regions?

I am a woman and agree with the above.  On our local news, there was a segment in which Democrats are interested in helping women to achieve equal pay for equal work.  Well I started thinking about this and tried to think where I worked and did I get less pay than men in similar job???   No, not at all.  At the hospital, do male nurses make more than women???  Again no.  My daughter is a math teacher at high school in Bakersfield.  Does she make less than male counterparts???  Definitely no.  The pay scales are only differentiated according to level of education and years of experience.  There is no mention of sex, such as men starting at higher level of pay.   What was really funny is even the news anchors of morning local news denied any discrepancy in their wages, ie. men making higher rate than women in same job.

We already have equal pay, equal opportunity for jobs, education, etc.  I have not encountered anything even close to what you might call discrimination in the job market.  Of course now I am old and retired, but have worked since 1970.  I have always been in government type jobs though, such as county hospitals or medical clinics.  Even back in the 1980-1990, I felt I was being treated fairly as far as wages were concerned.

So with Demos it is much adoo over nothing.  It is just more manipulation of media and society.  Keep the people stirred up.  While the Dems are antagonizing everyone with this equality BS, they either subtlely or blatantly imply it has to be the Republican's fault -- after all we know how badly they treat women, right????
