Don't be so sure.  The Soviets were able to pull it off for seventy years.

"This Senate rule change is really awful.  It was put there for a reason.  It's pretty short sighted to think that it won't affect YOUR party someday.  However, there are no long-term thinkers anymore."

Just to set the record correctly. That was Daisy Jane's post and I responded to it.

Is fillibusters the only thing that requires the 60 votes or are there other things in the day-to-day function of the Senate (not taking about Impeachment Convictions or Presidential Veto)?

You know you're rapidly descending into conspiracy theorist loony material when you conveniently subscribe to every popular lead without question.  Obama's a muslim?  Check.  Obama's a marxist?  Check.  Obama is a Kenyan?  Check.  Obama forged his university credentials?  Check.  Obama rigged the elections?  Check.  Obama knew about Benghazi?  Check.   You might as well look into Beethoven's role as an alien spy.

This, from the fool that thinks a 1 degree rise in 100 years is somehow a threat to life on earth, yet never once questioning the agenda behind the hype.

Literally every nationally/internationally recognized scientific body has reached a consensus on the reality of global warming.  You have it reversed; I'm not advocating any conspiracy, it's rather you who thinks that the entire scientific community is deceiving you.

Your above response is an ignorant appeal to personal incredulity, just as believable as my snorting at the idea that a 5 degree rise in internal body temperature can lead to a serious fever.

How much scientific research have you done, exactly, on global warming anyway?

Cryptic Bert

I don't it is necessarily suspicious. It's a combination of things.  Yes it is a distraction from Obamacare but only a brief one. Most families don't sit around the dinner table and discuss foreign policy. It's also a incompetence and desperation. Obama is desperate for some sort of legacy. He desperately wanted a deal and Kerry is too incompetent to do it.

One degree son, how is that injurious to the planet?
Just answer the question.

Skim through this:

Were you under the impression that you knew more about the topic than the percentage of scientific organizations that have reached consensus on its reality (read: 100%)?

One degree, one freakin degree and we spend trillions on prevention of something that will have absolutely no effect on any living being on earth.
And we're the conspiracy nuts?

Appeal to personal incredulity doesn't fly in the world of science.  "Five degrees, five degrees higher than average and you think I have a serious fever?   "

Now, find one flaw in the methodologies of the studies linked to here:

http://www.skepticalscience.com/Peer-reviewed-impacts-of-global-warming.html

Or concede that you think you can dispute peer reviewed scientific evidence with your personal "gut feeling".

It's not just that. These idiots don't realize we share the same atmosphere with the rest of the world so us living in the dark ages will have no affect when China and India continue to build new coal fired plants at an exponential rate.

Why do you keep posting this crap? It's pretty much accepted that the planet will warm one degree in 100 years, so why do we spend trillions on something we have absolutely no control over.
As Boo pointed out, China could give a shit.

Why is it so hard for you to understand there is an actual not so hidden agenda in everything the leftists do?

Can anyone explain how third world nations will develop into industrial nations without fossil fuels?

So you can't find any flaws in methodology in the peer reviewed studies I just showed you?

OK then, answer this: if you don't think manmade fossil fuel emissions contribute to climate change, explain why a progressively increasing percentage of the CO2 detected in the atmosphere lack a carbon-14 footprint.  The only source that would lack such an isotope is above ground human controlled burnings of fossil fuels.
