Poor bastards, my heart bleeds for you guys.

They're completely broke," said a studio head, when asked by me (of course) about how different things were these days. He spoke about famous players who regularly came to him begging for favors—a picture, a handout, anything....

They have extremely high overheads," he said to his guest with me listening in. "They have multiple houses, wives, and families to support. They've made movies for years, they were on top of the world and had no reason to think it would end. And then suddenly it did. They've gone through whatever savings they had. They can't sell their real estate. Their overhead is as astronomical as their fees used to be. They've taken out loans, so they're highly leveraged. It's a tragedy.

People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A foolish man complains about his torn pockets.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

Titanic was a tragedy. Pearl Harbor was a tragedy. 911 was a tragedy. Some overpaid dufus going broke because of high on the hog living, is not a tragedy.
There's no ticks like Polyticks-bloodsuckers all Davy Crockett 1786-1836

The fortunate part about this story is that while the actual DVD media may be losing ground to Blu-Ray, all Blu-Ray players are capable of playing DVDs as well. So when your current player dies, you need not upgrade your collection. DVD will not become truly obsolete for probably another 20 years. By then we'll be carrying movies around on a phystical storage media not even invented yet.

Hyperion

We already have its called the USB drive. I use that all the time. I'm waiting for specialized locked up ones with movies on them.

The fact is if they think this is bad? Wait for it. Because its only just beginning.

Cable's going to be the next big thing to fall and fall HARD.

Due to an upcoming job i'm taking in seattle i did the math.

With Hulu+ and Netflix covering about 60% of my entertainment needs The other 40 being covered by a combination of NFL, UFC, i can save 500 bucks a month with just a cellphone and net access. (subscribe to blaze via net for news)

And thats a big pile of savings. It would probably be MORE in savings if i went skype and not bothered wiht a cellphone. But my job will require it.

Cable if it does not switch to ala carte within two years is going to be in the same boat. And i THINK the process is already beginning.
