Article [II.]
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

And so the debate begins, and i'm hoping and praying that Americans are asking themselves why does the Goverment of the United States of American want to disarm its people. What are they affraid of or is this their best way to protect the American people from crazy people.

Here is just one case of many.

I grew up in the area and time when the "Son of Sam" David Berkowitz. we all know the story. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Berkowitz#Early_life ).
One thing i'll like to state, he started out trying to kill people by setting fires first, then stabbing people using a knife, then he when to shooting people with his 44 bulldog. I said all of that to say this, he was going to kill no matter what method. Case to point, if there was not a single gun to be found this nut job was still going to kill.

Now IMO this is the real reason the Goverment of the United States of America want to disarm its people.

Battle of Athens 2 AUGUST 1946

I. Introduction

On 2 August 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government, used armed force to overturn it. These Americans wanted honest, open elections. For years they had asked for state or Federal election monitors to prevent vote fraud -- forged ballots, secret ballot counts, and intimidation by armed sheriff's deputies -- by the local political boss. They got no help.

These Americans' absolute refusal to knuckle-under had been hardened by service in World War II. Having fought to free other countries from murderous regimes, they rejected vicious abuse by their county government. These Americans had a choice. Their state's Constitution - Article 1, Section 26 - recorded their right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. Few "gun control" laws had been enacted.

Even the liberal media showed their true colors back in 1946.

This my friends is what our goverment is affraid of.

As Recently As 1946, American Citizens Were Forced To Take Up Arms As A Last Resort Against Corrupt Government Officials.

The GIs came home to find that a political machine had taken over their Tennessee county. What they did about it astounded the nation.

I am not a gun owner, but I grew up around guns and I want to own a handgun, as well as getting a conceal carry license. I friend of a friend made the comment on facebook along the lines of "do you really need a gun to feel safe from criminals?" and while every one else was sharing stories of how they had used their guns in self defense, I shocked everyone by saying I keep my gun handy in case the IRS ever shows up at my door. I was joking, but I think the relevance of my comment was that the right to bear arms was intended as a means for citizens to protect themselves from the authority and dominion of the government and not just criminals.

Interesting how libs equate gun ownership with a Feeling of safety when nothing could be further from the truth.
I have guns for the reasons you stated, to assure our Govt keeps within it's cage and to protect my property.
Though, as of late, the cage door is open, but the demon is still within the prison walls.

All those reasons plus the fact the shooting is a skill and is just plain fun to practice.

Both have good qualities, but I have always seen them as run of the mill pubs and nothing more.
I think one of the defining differences in a Conservative and a RINO, is emotion, Conservatives deal in facts, while RINO/Pubs deal in emotion, which is why were in the mess were itn.
They seem so afraid of upsetting the Dems and getting called mean nasty names.

The way I understand it, the 2nd amendment had nothing to do with hunting or criminals. It was specifically written to give the citizens the right to go after an out of control government..................by force if necessary.
