Title: Anybody's thoughts on pre-paid debit cards?
Post by: Sick Of Silence on November 30, 2023, 01:02:11 AM
I was talking with someone at work, and they started using one after they were mugged. It does make sense to have a card you can use for smaller, daily purchases that is not directly attached to your bank account and have smaller maximum amounts.

Thoughts?

I have a credit card with a small max limit on it for online. Only once has there been a charge on there that was not mine, and the bank handled it for me, took it off. If I go into one of the big box stores, I always use another credit card with a small limit. If I shop local, I still write checks so they do not have to pay the 3% fee.

The one I am thinking about would allow me to load it free at least one retailer (without paying the fee) and allows me to get cash free from ATMs from certain corner stores that I frequent on the regular.
