Feel bad for the guy. Hopefully he gets enough money to where he can pay his sister back and doesn't have to ask her to Western Union him money anymore.
I feel bad for the cops, too. They didn't mean to make the mistake and seemed immediately contrite, but they didn't handle that properly and now have to deal with the consequences.

I agree. Feel bad for both. The police need to have another approach defined. The immediate push to violence even in cases where violence isn't warranted needs to be fixed. The default needs to change.
Both of you are not allowed to call the cops when you are in trouble. This situation does not erase the overflow criminals that the cops have to deal with on a regular basis.

I can see fault on both sides. It was none of the cops business what he was doing at the Walgreens. It's a free country and he has a right to go any damn where he pleases. He didn't owe them an explanation for why he went to Walgreens. He did produce an identification. If he would have remained calm the incident probably would have been resolved quickly but he lost his temper and got loud with the cops. Once you start yelling and show signs of agitation it naturally put the cops on a defensive posture. I think that his wrist getting broke was just an unfortunate accident and the results of ignorance on both sides. Actions have consequences, the man suffered a broken wrist and the city will suffer the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars. I think it all could have been avoided if people would just remain calm. When you are outnumbered and outgunned resistance is not always the best option.
