One great read. This article asks the questions that need to be answered. As it has been said here several times, the government did not just mishandle the virus, this was deliberate.
Quote1. What Could Have Been Done to Better Protect Older, High-Risk Americans?

Quote2. Why Was Natural Immunity to Covid Ignored?

Quote3. Why Were Schools and Colleges Closed?

Quote4. Why Was Covid Prioritized over Other Health Problems?

Quote5. Why Did the CDC Fail to Collect Accurate Data About the Virus?

There are five more questions. Shawn Fleetwood has put together one hell of an article. No liberal can or will answer these.

I think the underlying answer for a lot of these questions is related to the fact that we just didn't know enough about the virus, what we should do, were overly cautious/overreacted and highly disorganized.  Despite what some believe, Covid was not just the flu. It was likely the deadliest pandemic any of us have been alive for.  Flu pandemics generally kill about a million people worldwide.  The most recent swine flu was insanely contagious, but killed few people - about 275k worldwide, I believe.  Covid-19 has killed about 7 million worldwide.

We're all lucky it wasn't more deadly because, as  country, we failed miserably in our response.

1. What Could Have Been Done to Better Protect Older, High-Risk Americans?
The only thing "done" to the elderly was in the environment of nursing home/long-term care type of place.  The story linked in the Federalist article is from June 2020.  It says that nearly 41k elderly had dies in nursing homes - 80% of total Covid deaths.  I don't know this for a fact, but I'd bet that a lack of understanding of how deadly the virus was to the elderly contributed to the high number of deaths early on.  We didn't know, early on, that Covid could spread asymptomatically.  So, you probably had employees unknowingly going room to room spreading it.  You had friends and family visiting and spreading it.

I don't know this was the norm but, in my area, nursing homes allowed nobody (I mean nobody) in beyond regularly tested employees during covid.

2. Why Was Natural Immunity to Covid Ignored?

Probably because we didn't know how long it lasted and there was a big push for vaccines.

3. Why Were Schools and Colleges Closed?

There was a big push to slow the rapidly spreading virus.  Colleges and schools are environments where covid can spread incredibly quickly. While it was believed that school/college age people weren't high risk, they could easily spread it around to those who are, either in public or taking it home.

4. Why Was Covid Prioritized over Other Health Problems?

I think the obvious answer is, again, to slow the spread.  An increase in excess deaths has been attributed to the lack of availability of care.

5. Why Did the CDC Fail to Collect Accurate Data About the Virus?

Not familiar with this.  The asymptomatic transmission seemed to be known pretty early.  Asymptomatic transmission was was primarily what made covid, unlike seasonal flu, so dangerous.

6. Why Did Public Health Officials Trust Unreliable Models?

Because it's all they had.

7. Why Was There a Concentrated Effort to Demonize Potential Covid Therapeutics?

Hydroxychloroquin and Ivermectin have never been shown to be useful.

8. Why Did Public Health Officials Disregard Safety Protocols for the Covid Jabs?

Lots of speculation and claims here.  I don't see a reason to rehash this since there's no chance we're going to agree.

9. How Did the U.S. Get Its Covid Testing Policies So Wrong?

I don't know if I'd call them "so wrong".  Like I alluded to earlier, we failed as a country in our first test of dealing with a truly dangerous pandemic.l

10. Why the Massive Push for Ineffective Mask Mandates?

I don't know if I've ever seen anything definitive on wearing masks, but this isn't the first time the CDC has recommended masks.  They recommended masks during the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic. Virtually nobody wore them because the virus killed so few people.

Looks like you will believe anything the LSM tells you. But, your answers, besides being wrong, just proves you do not read what is posted. For instance, during the swine flu most of the deaths were from pneumonia, CAUSED FROM WEARING MASKS WHICH TRAPPED THE MOISTURE. the article was posted, twice.

I don't respond to every claim that is made.  The claim about swine flu and masks isn't anything I've every heard of and sounds like another highly speculative claim.  Lungs are already incredibly moist.  I don't see how moisture, that came from your body/lungs in the first place, could cause pneumonia because some part of it was caught on a mask.

It's been proven masks don't work!
