WASHINGTON, DC – Colorado cannot disqualify former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday.

In a historic ruling, the Supreme Court said only Congress can disqualify a candidate from the ballot using the Fourteenth Amendment's "Insurrection Clause," overturning a 4-3 opinion in December from the Colorado Supreme Court that the provision prohibits former President Donald Trump from appearing on the ballot for the presidency in 2024.

That ruling partially reversed a prior ruling in November that Trump is not an officer of the United States as defined by the Fourteenth Amendment and that the Amendment therefore cannot be used to disqualify him from appearing on the Colorado primary ballot.

This is the first time the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment.

The court wrote:

Proposed by Congress in 1866 and ratified by the States in 1868, the Fourteenth Amendment expanded federal power at the expense of state autonomy and thus fundamentally altered the balance of state and federal power struck by the Constitution. [...]

The ruling allies to all states, territories. Lot of very unhappy liberals today. Have to say I was shocked the ruling was 9-0.

This ruling was only for CO. However, as Possum says, in actuality it affects all states with precedent established by the SCOTUS.

My two cents on this is that these State election board officials, judges even the Governors of these States; Colorado, Maine and Illinois, should be removed from office and even prosecuted civilly for violation of Trumps civil rights, plus the rights of ANY CITIZAN IN THEIR JURISDICTION who planned to vote for Trump, The waste of Taxpayer money on the UNCONSTITUTIONAL VENDETTAs against Trump. Then of course there is the criminal charge of election interference.

But consider this; these scumbags have demonstrated their contempt for Law plus their obvious bias against their oath of office. How can you expect these cretins to manage a FAIR election considering their actions?
This lends credence to the obvious fraud and cheating in the last phony election.

If I were a citizen of any of these states I would be getting together with like minded citizens and filing a class action law suit to have them removed.
