Saule Omarova said equal pay was a 'huge achievement' by Soviet dictatorship



President Joe Biden's pick for the nation's top banking regulator received a scholarship named for Vladimir Lenin and praised the Soviet Union for paying the sexes equally.

Biden last week nominated Saule Omarova to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates national banks. Omarova in 2019 praised aspects of the Soviet Union's economic system, calling the lack of a gender pay gap a "huge achievement" and an example of a flaw in capitalism. A native of Kazakhstan, Omarova graduated in 1989 from Moscow State University, where she received the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship, according to her résumé.

Senate Confirms Alleged Eco-Terrorist Collaborator To Lead Bureau Of Land Management



The Senate voted 50-45 on a party-line vote Thursday to confirm embattled Bureau of Land Management nominee Tracy Stone-Manning.
Stone-Manning failed to win a single Republican vote amid accusations she lied to the Senate Energy Committee over her involvement in a 1989 eco-terrorism incident.
The Daily Caller News Foundation first reported the contents of an anonymous and threatening letter Stone-Manning sent to the Forest Service in 1989 warning that an Idaho forest had been sabotaged with tree spikes.
The lead investigator in the case said in a Fox News op-ed Thursday that Stone-Manning "concealed a felony" by holding out for three years before coming clean to authorities about her involvement in the plot.
