Question to all our California friends....If this single-payer health care bill would have passed would it have been the nail in the coffin for the democrats in California or just a deeper dive into communism....?
California Democrats Fail to Pass Single-payer Health Care Bill
California Democrats fell short of the votes needed to pass a "single-payer" health care bill Monday that would force a government takeover of the state's health insurance industry, raising taxes dramatically to create socialized medicine for all residents, legal or not.
The proposal for "CalCare" attracted support from left-wing "progressives" — and strong opposition from business groups, who pointed out that a similar policy had already failed recently in Vermont, the home of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). The proposal would have required $163 billion in new taxes — and not just on the wealthy. (By comparison, the entire proposed state budget for California this year is an already-staggering $286.4 billion; single-payer would add 57%.)

Dims were the ones who killed this, they, in essence have a super majority, and even they didn't want this shit.
This action strikes me as significant. Democrats exercising some sanity is very rare. It reflects some CA politicians are seeing the light. Had this passed the outward migration of tax paying citizens would cause a traffic jam. The population would not drop as the freeloaders would come in droves. However, there would be nobody to pay taxes to fund this debacle.

I'm working from memory here, but I feel certain this is wrong. I'm almost positive I've seen the estimated cost for this pegged repeatedly at around $400 billion, which is far greater than the current budget in its entirety. It reminds me of the CA high-speed rail project, which everyone was told was gonna be built for like $12.
