Armed citizen shoots and kills one of two robbery suspects at Church's Chicken

PORT ARTHUR — Port Arthur Police say two suspects with handguns were robbing the Church's Chicken in the 1800 block of Jefferson Drive at about 8:45 p.m. Friday when an armed citizen intervened and several shots were fired.

Both suspects were struck and fled the scene. Police say one died at a hospital. The other was located at Normandy Apartments and was being treated in the ER.

Detectives interviewed and released the citizen who stayed on scene at Church's. The case remains under investigation.
