Yes, if you served at least 6 months , including Basic and AIT, which usually consists of 6 months and were given assignment afterwards, you are a veteran.
Even if you are booted earlier, for various reasons, none of which consists of treason, you made the commitment to serve the country and are deserving of the term veteran.

Yesss! I served for 12 months, but not in the American military. Hope that counts too, and that we are veteran brothers.
