You have to keep in mind this show is aired on the "History" channel, which includes a line up of other great informative, historical, shows like Ancient Aliens, Swamp People, and Pawn Stars.

How about that Viking Metal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOCXUSp-zuw

Ha, I like that show!!!

Ha, I like that show!!!

Not gonna lie, I used to watch some show called Porter Ridge on Discovery Channel about a bunch of Indiana rednecks. I stopped watching it and cancelled my cable though when my pill head neighbor moved in. After that all I had to do was put my ear up against my wall or peak out the window to get my fill. It was like I was thrust into my very own white-trash drama reality TV show, center stage.

Have Gun, Will Travel -Except if you lived in 1880-ish San Francisco, you'd be traveling too extensively for your gunfighting-skills to be useful in a relevant time-frame.  A setting in Denver would be perfect.

Richard Boone is superb.  A Shakespeare-quoting, lightning-draw, no-nonsense ladies' man.  -Living in a high-society San Francisco hotel-suite.  A few of the episodes take-place in SF, but not many.  Coastal California wasn't 'the wild west'.  Yet most of Paladin's adventures occur on the other side of the Rockies.  -So if a rancher, or town is being harrassed, the viewer is implored to believe that Paladin's skills are worth waiting months for; good weather not withstanding.

The episodes themselves were 30-minutes, which just isn't long-enough.  -Another reason why it should've been just a San Francisco-detective show.  For example, Yancy Derringer's adventures all took-place in New Orleans and riverboats.  There was no need for him to venture 'out west' for the purpose of script-inspired derringer-sequences.

That all said, I liked HGWT a lot, primarily because of Boone.  I originally thought Boone's name was 'Will Travel' and the show was called Half-Gun: Will Travel... as his nickname.

Absolutely one of my favorite westerns of all time.
Granted, most of hhis jobs took him away from the West coast, but I wouldn't call the Barbary coast a placid area.
OK, on the topic of Boone, does this bring back memories?

Only vaguely vaguely...  And the song sounds like Liberace, sorta.  I'm not really sure why, but my parents weren't into medical-dramas.  Though my grandmother adored Chad Everett/Medical Center when it ran.  My dad liked Boone though, and probably didn't want to see him in a milksop womens' show.

I imagine the network was thinking he'd pull in the women with his rugged looks.
I never saw the show till years after it ran, we never had a TV till 1959, anyway one that could get more than one channel. and even then it was a tiny screen from a second hand store.

Nothing is metal as having one band member committ suicide, take picture of it and use it for album cover and having one of your guitarist become the most despied man in Europe.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. All that said, Richard Boone, God bless his soul, was one ugly son of a bitch. We watched Bonanza and Maverick and Cheyenne and Wyatt Earp and Sugarfoot and loved all those pretty cowboys, but Paladin was ugly. I believe he was the next-to-last actor to ever be "killed" by John Wayne too -- in "The Shootist." He played an intensely unpleasant and UGLY man in that one too.

Ugly? You call Richard Boone ugly?

Ernest Freaking Borgnine.
Warren Mofo Oates.
Jack Wandering-Eye Elam.

(*traditional salute, wit' da whollllllllle arm!*    )

Boone conveyed INTELLIGENCE. Too smart to be just another angst-ridden cowpoke-cutey, kissin' on his horse.

Yep. You are correct in every way. I do not dispute a single word.

But he sure was ugly.

Listing a bunch of other ugly guys doesn't make him less ugly.

I will agree with you in every way on his marvelous touch and lights as an actor, and he literally provided much-needed fire and life in roles such as the bad guy in "Big Jake."

But I've seen mud fences that were prettier.

No love for old school Bathory though? The Return? Blood, Fire, Death? Under the Sign of the Black Mark?

De Mysterias Dom Sathanas! Gotta say though, I prefer Atilla Cishars vocals over Dead's. Not really into Mayhem's newer stuff. Too bad Burzum killed Mayhem.

Looking back, no era will ever be as metal as those batshit crazy Norwegians with their black metal. Nothing can top them.

I just wanted to point out the funfact about Mayhem, I do feel little sorry for Vikernes though even though he is a murderer he did serve his time in prison and I do not agree with his views, the left will not be satisfied until they have crucified him as an example of what happens to people that dares to exercise their freedom of speech.

Back to music, when you are drunk waving your head around like a retard all black metal sound the same to me  :tounge:
