I've known these people over the decades, and most can be characterized as weak minded liberals.
They are always in search of something other than reality, something that will give them an edge, something to validate their very existence, be it occult or what have you, it isn't God, they hate the idea of God because of organized religion. Always being good is tough for most people, which deters them.
Back in the 70s, I delved into the occult, not because I was looking for the dark side, but rather, I needed to get through it to achieve a clearer vision of past/future events. I was studying Nostradamus and the formula he used, it is not for the weak of mind, I assure you. I only made it once past the dark side, but the evil that existed as a barrier was beyond belief.
Coming back once you pass through is a million times easier than getting beyond.

I never went back, I dumped the whole thing. Oh yes, it is real, it's just not for me. I like the light side, God's side.
To cut the story short, the dark side is real and it is pure evil, looking for an open wound in a gullible lib, if you will.
These people are weak; they see it as a way to gain power over others who know they are weak and stupid.
I'm not saying all libs, but everyone in the occult was and still is a weak lib; being stupid and gullible is a prerequisite to getting in.

This guy reminds me of my older brother, who passed 20 plus years ago. He too, was gullible, too stupid to know what he was getting involved in, but innocent enough to stumble back out of the trap. You all know the type, always in search of a higher meaning, be it UFOs or crystals, they never accept life for the gift it is, they are never satisfied with just living life for what it is.

Gee, looking back, I guess I was no different than the rest, though not looking for darkness, I was looking for something I had no business doing in the first place.
Cool, after all these decades, I get an answer, simply for writing out a part of my life I abandoned in a heartbeat.
