It's Memorial Day, Ladies and Gents.  Let's hear about your family's (and your) military service.

Great Great Grandfather:  US Army.  Civil War (Union).

Great Grandfather #1:  US Army.  Spanish American War

Great Grandfather #2:  US Army.  Spanish American War

Father:  US Army.  Cuban Missile crisis.  Dad passed away in 2007 with Mom, all three sons and two daughters by his side.  He always regretted getting out of the Army.  I served on his uniformed funeral detail.  Presented the flag to Mom.  He would have been bursting with pride.

Nephew:  USMC.  Got kicked out for drug use just 6 months ago.  My Brother (his Dad) is so ashamed, he hasn't spoken to me in months.  Very sad.

Me:  US Army.  Iraq War.  Retired from the Army but not a day goes by that I don't wish I were back in uniform.

Dad was in the Battle of the Bulge....bronze star (tank)

Back in 1970 we had the draft....remember sitting on the porch steps in the afternoon and looking at the list in the paper.  My birthday day is Oct 6....right next to that was the number 6.  OCTOBER6,6.....stared at it for a while not knowing what to make of it.  Long story short, I decided to join....Army, Air Force and Army again.  Couldn't pass my physicals.  If I would of waited for the draft they would of drafted me. lol

Youngest son served a tour in the army...Afghanistan.  Was in a FOB....glad everyone from his group returned unharmed.
