haa I do have some issues with American slang but I know it's almost always good natured :)

Americans have trouble with slang. Blacks for example originate many of our phrases and once whites are heard adopting them, the blacks invent something new. The exact same thing applies between generations of all colors. What also applies is that the "truths" these code phrases are meant to hide are never new, never original, and never solved.

You're laughing but if you only knew how many people actually said this to me, it's pretty hilarious!

I'm getting better at understanding the gist/intent of American slang at least, also taking English pronunciation classes to kill at least a bit of my accent.

Right on man, that's totally groovy...
Let us know what new slang you pick up, most of us would be lost in a conversation with 20-year-olds.

I met a guy in his late 30s that asked if I'd ever heard of Steely Dan, Journey, Doobie Brothers.
I said, of course, they were huge in the 70s, he was so excited that he met someone that actually remembered music from the 70s.
My look to the kid that just made me feel like a dusty old history book, was. :glare:

For most of us, the 70s were just yesterday, the end of Nam, the rise of Carter that ushered in Reagan a precursor to the Conservative movement coming back.
Sad thing is, for many young voters today, 911 is only found in history books.

If you want the Conservative perspective from people that lived it, stick around. Our take on things is nothing like you've ever heard before.

  You young people, I look back on the 30's and 40's.  But I do love my country music.

My real favorites are 40s and 50s music.
I was raised around polka and swing. Polka as in the old country German polka from the 18th and 19th century, though I never thought much of it at the time, thought it really hokey, I often wonder what people think when they hear it playing in my truck today.

I'm just now discovering American country music and I love it so much, especially what people now call classics :)
Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, John Denver, Glen Campbell...etc etc
I grew up on Kozak folk music (curved swords, horses & hard booze), similar I think sentiment as some of your classic country music I think.

We go up to a town called Leavenworth about 4 hours away from us.  It's been made over into a Bavarian Village up North from us.   We make it a nice 3 day trip as they always have something going on up there.

I love Polka, so many different types out there. I do not care what anyone thinks of my music preferences any more :)
I love listening to 1940's WW2 Soviet Army music out loud :)
