Until the doomsayers return next summer.
This is normal Ca weather! Many of you have heard me rant about Ca and its cyclical weather of 7 to 15 year cycle, and here we are, back to deluge, and headed into the next drought.
So don't be surprised when the left claims it's AGW causing it.

When in fact, ca drought to deluge is perfect evidence that the climate is not changing, it's doing what it has done since the Sierra rose out of the depths.
Fact is, our water level is normal, despite measly 150 year old records, Ca keeps its own records, and sometimes these droughts last for a thousand years, so we're more than normal, we're sitting in a sweet-spot in time.
Oh, and did I mention, that Jan and Feb are our snowiest and wettest months?

State water supplies are still overcoming a deficit from the recent drought and groundwater supplies have declined. It will take some time and more water to recover that storage, which is why officials can't say that the drought is over, she said.

  Drought over is just another way of saying you're one day closer to the next one.  We're in one continuous drought with brief interruptions of heavy rain.

Well after all was said and done, I got a literal foot of rain in two days. Just dumped the rain gauge 10 minutes ago.
Another wave comes in Wednesday and Thursday, so it ain't even close to being done.
They say another two weeks of this, at least.

God I love when mother Nature makes libs cry.

Right! And we're supposed to trust their science?
This is the 7th drought/deluge I've personally experienced in Ca, which puts in right in the middle of the decadal cycle.
Give it another 5 to 10 years and we'll see another "Historic"   Drought/Flood.

They always call it historic, as if to lead one to believe it was some sot of record breaker. It was not, it was normal.

Los Angeles Times Admits California Has Cyclic Wet-Dry Cycles After Historic Snowpack

I'm posting it all just in case they pull it.

Drought-weary California is entering February with deeper snowpack than it has seen in four decades, reflecting a healthy boost in the state's supply of water but also spurring concerns about dryness, flooding and other potential hazards in the months ahead.

Statewide Sierra snowpack was 205% of normal for the date on Wednesday, said officials with the Department of Water Resources during the second snow survey of the season.

Even more promising, snowpack was 128% of its April 1 average, referring to the end-of-season date when snowpack in California is typically at its deepest.

"Our snowpack is off to an incredible start, and it's exactly what California needs to really help break from our ongoing drought," DWR snow survey manager Sean de Guzman said. The state's snowpack is currently outpacing the winter of 1982-83 — "the wettest year on record dating back about 40 years," he said.

In a shocking move, the Los Angles Times actually published real science related to the wet season that we are experiencing on the West Coast, and allowed real experts to explain the state's wet-dry seasons are cyclic.

As California emerges from a two-week bout of deadly atmospheric rivers, a number of climate researchers say the recent storms appear to be typical of the intense, periodic rains the state has experienced throughout its history and not the result of global warming.

Although scientists are still studying the size and severity of storms that killed 19 people and caused up to $1 billion in damage, initial assessments suggest the destruction had more to do with California's historic drought-to-deluge cycles, mountainous topography and aging flood infrastructure than it did with climate-altering greenhouse gasses.

Although the media and some officials were quick to link a series of powerful storms to climate change, researchers interviewed by The Times said they had yet to see evidence of that connection. Instead, the unexpected onslaught of rain and snow after three years of punishing drought appears akin to other major storms that have struck California every decade or more since experts began keeping records in the 1800s.

In light of California's new regulations prohibiting the sale of fossil-fuel-powered vehicles, we better hope this is a long, wet cycle. We are going to need lots of it to fight electric vehicle battery fires.

A Tesla Model S "spontaneously caught fire" while traveling down a highway in Rancho Cordova, California, prompting firefighters to respond to the scene, officials said.

On Saturday afternoon, crew members from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a Tesla that was "engulfed in flames" due to a battery fire, officials said in a tweet.

Video posted by Metro Fire of Sacramento showed firefighters hosing the vehicle down as other cars drove by. Photos of the aftermath of the blaze showed the totally charred front hood of the vehicle.

Firefighters used 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the flames as two fire engines, a water tender and a ladder truck were called to assist. Crews used jacks to access the underside to extinguish and cool the battery, fire officials said.

I've got so much global warming packed on my roof. my storm door is hitting the eve.
This was weird because I went to let Diesel out and the door was stuck.
There's always been 2" of clearance from the gutter to the top of the door.

I have no doubt there are at least 20 tons of well displaced snow saturated water up there.
Fingers crossed, it all goes away without issue.
Oh, and I walked out on the back deck to take a leak, and I swore I could hear a train, but we don't have trains, it was the creeks raging.
A rather eerie sound. I assure you, the valley is in a panic of what's coming down.

Are you still getting snow?

Solar

Quote from: Possum on March 14, 2023, 03:40:06 PMAre you still getting snow?
Nope, we finally got out on Sunday, still a couple of feet on the road.
Today, nothing, got that warm rain, came in and melted almost all of it, but mostly because of the warm wind more so than rain..
I still have a couple of feet down at the campsite yesterday, but I'd bet that's probably already gone now.

The atmospheric river started, then suddenly cut South, then a break and the second one did the same, so not a lot of rain, but a 30+ Degree increase in temp in one day. It's 51 degrees out and it's 5:00 Pm.
I'm willing to bet, we may even be in the 70s at the end of the month.

I took the backhoe down to the bottom to see how things were. Fuckin trees down everywhere, from snow mostly, and then the wind snapped a few 100'+ Doug fir off at the base.

I better not hear the left claim the drought isn't over! :sneaky:  :bigl  :bigl  :bigl

Well, winter ended. We went from woodstove one night, to air-conditioned the next.
Now we're in the low 80s in the day, while the valley is suffering mid 90s.

Even though winter is over, the valley is having flood warnings as the snowpack begins to melt.
They have one right now for the upper Sacramento valley, where they are unable to control the flow of water because all dams are pretty much at capacity.

Who will the Dims blame?

Get ready for a super El Nino.

If this is anything like 1998, the West is going to see more recording rains.
Yes, it was devastating!

I'm loving this Summer! Thirty Nine Degrees out, heater on, as a blast of cold Alaskan air decided to visit this morning.
A bit cool, normally we'd be in the low 90s, but we've been running in the low 70s so far this year.

But just wait, this winter, all the news will be talking about the historic flooding rains.
Sure, they claim it's AGW, that man has never seen anything like this, aside the fact it happened almost exactly 30 years ago, literally after a cold summer.

If all holds true, we may see below zero temps again when Alaska visits for another 11 days.
It's all cycles, some longer, some shorter, but it has zero to do with any change in climate, the media created that shit!
