Well we got nailed really good with the last atmospheric river to hit central Ca, literally beelined right through the Bay Area to the Sierra.
I got more than 10" of rain in about  48 hrs, at one point it was 2" an hr, and everything is drenched.
Yes, the drought died a nasty death.

Oh, and a good dumping of snow in the high country with more on the way.
And that's only the beginning.

Yeah, they can be. Mostly in February when we get deep freezes and the ice pushes boulders up and out and when the ice thaws, they come tumbling down.

It was during one of these events that a boulder came down the mountain and broke my leg.
But it's really bad when they block the entire river 100' + deep and closes HWY 50 until summer.

I've had them on my creek 20' high mud wall come down, damn near got my dogs and me. I heard it coming, thought it was an earthquake because it sounded like a train, which we don't have, that's when I yelled at the pups and we ran.

I'm betting this year will be one for the history books.

It's a beautiful morning...

Awoke to a couple of feet of snow, trees and limbs down everywhere, but I expected that.
We're doing great, but! Most of the area will be inaccessible for a couple of days and all power is out due to trees falling.
We're beyond prepared for this, but a lot of neighbors weren't, we'll be going out checking on them with the new mule we just purchased.

Yeah, I shit canned the Polaris RZR 900, the piece of shit was way too unreliable.

Update.
It looks like a warzone out here. I have dozens of trees down, dozens more snapped off.
Decided to go out to the main road, 5 more trees down, need to cut to get out.

Got out and on the left there's about 8 huge trees in a pile about 12' high burying powerlines, which is obviously out and will be for several weeks.
So we turned right instead, cut several trees just to get a few hundred feet. Snow was deep but passable in the Mule, managed to drive several miles through the back country and ran into my neighbor plowing the road, clear from there to the highway.

The highway was worse than the back country, they hadn't even plowed HWY 193 yet, must have been more than 100 trees down in a 5 mile stretch to the town of Georgetown.
Picked up several people walking, one guy needed gas.

All in all? What should have been a 40 minute drive round trip, took 2 hours.
Nice to see our weather returning to normal.
