Well, like I said, Texas is a desert with brief interruptions of heavy rain. We're having a wet year, as in road closings, rivers, creeks flooded. which means water gaps down. Got 9" of rain last week, with the big one falling on soaked ground. Almost six" fell sat. night.

I have most of the fence work done. So far about 300 yards that were knocked down have been put back up. It's muddy work. On the bright side, three of the tanks on the place are full and running over. Widened out the spillway on the one i had redug last summer when it was real low, now holds roughly 3.5 million gallons. A full tank is better than winning the lottery.

On the bad news had one tank break. Don't know what the plan of action of that one is yet. On the good news, lost no cows, some of my neighbors were not so lucky. There were a couple of whole herds missing from those who have land along the river. There was no warning of this coming, some talk about some area flooded road ways, but not of rivers at 15 feet. Usually takes a much bigger rain to see those kind of results.

Can't forecast what the last week of May or the first two weeks of June bring, that is usually our best chance for really bad storms. the highland lakes which water the liberals in Austin are not getting the runoff, the main water lake for Austin is Travis, still setting 50' low. maybe if it goes dry they will all move to New York.

Back during our normal weather pattern, drought, every weather prediction which included rain, even if the prediction was only .02" was the severe weather warning. Never understood how a cloud with so little rain came with so many warnings. Makes you tend to ignore them after hearing them for every cloud. Have a b-i-l about two hours from here, had hail bigger than grapefruit. Forecast was just for rainfall, with the standard could be severe. Well, hell, I guess they issue all the warning to cover their butt.

We have about another six weeks of wet weather, then we will be hit and dry for the rest of the summer, (don't hold me to that prediction, I have seen wet summers before) But Austin's chances of getting their water supply are running out. Wonder how you truck in enough water for a million people?

I saw some of the videos of that hail, that shit is God throwing rocks at liberals. :bat
I know what you mean about news hype, here in Nor Cal, 100+ is a normal summer, 110/114 is a sit and stay cool, but now they open all these govt centers, even fire stations are forced to let people in, yes, the perpetual homeless rip them off blind.
From what used to be, A Say, "Stay The fuck Out Of Town Day" to come on in, tax payers will feed and house you for the day.

I grew up without air, didn't even have a fan, laid in bed till I passed out, but now, if it's over 90, it's huge news.
Fuckin pussies!

Well, lets hope your worst is over, that's some nasty ass weather no one should have to deal with.
But hey, at least it's a warm rain.

the storms are entertaining to say the least. Drought that last months/years gets real depressing. Know what you mean about growing up with no ac. we used to sleep outside, when it cooled down enough, if it did, we would move inside. Something you don't see anymore, if you happened to be in town, and back then it was a treat to go there, if a thunderstorm came up you would see people rushing outside to roll up there their windows in the cars. Hell, half the cars had kids in them. Different times. Miss them.

Just had the first storm of the day pass through, almost an inch, next one is a couple of hours away. Should get another inch, not too bad. Maybe it's drowning grasshoppers.

Creek has been running for a couple of weeks again, hopefully that means the water tables are finally getting full. Creek looks good again, it is a rock/gravel bottom. During the drought, the rains we got just ran dirt into it and did not blow it out. Hell, I had grass growing and cows grazing in the creek. The bottom was all mud. Banks were full of decaying leaves sticks and all the common crap that forms along the creek beds. That is all gone. Looks good now. Lots of fallen trees. Stihl chainsaw and the grappler will get that cleaned up in a hurry. Dog has plenty new places to go swimming. She is really turning into a good companion.

I know what you mean about gulley washers, I haven't had a great one in several years.
Here, we get the storms off the Pacific, they blow past the coast range and the valley, but once they hit the Sierra, it's called orographic lift, and all that water get's squeezed out and never makes it to Nevada, which is why it's all desert, but we get feet of rain as normal, but we also have canyons for it to escape.

Let's hope it soaks in there and replenishes your   underground aquafers.
