I'm guessing timing. We never really got that cold early on, and the big snows didn't hit until this month.

This year is like any other, where wild swings are the norm, be it warm, or cold, normal is expecting it to be anything but.

We were surprised to get video of a mountain lion.  On Saturday (the 23rd) there was a fatal mountain lion attack in our area.  We thought for sure it was the one we had been catching on our other cameras.

Most definitely not the same lion, this one carries itself in a vey different manner.
Could be a brother or a sister of the other they killed.

Yeah, like it owns the road without a care in the world.
My house is just over the top of the hill, a few hundred' away, not often we see them in the middle of the day.
Last one that came that close that I know of was about 35 years ago.

Everyone here has bear proof cans, and they work extremely well.
Though we do have an abundance of critters like fox and rabbits, voles, turkeys etc that can be an easy catch for these guys if they get really hungry.
Usually when you bear scat, it's full of varying seeds and small undigested bones.

They still come bye to sniff them.
