Same here, but in all honesty, even my dumbest mistakes turned out to be gold.
I know, strange, but I wouldn't change a thing. Even my concussion/memory loss turned out to be cause for this forum.

I often wondered if life here is both Heaven and Hell at the same time. For me, it's been Heaven, but for others passing through my life, for them, it was Hell.

Wait, that didn't sound Right, I didn't make their lives Hell.....

Orrrrr did    I    ?
Well, y'all were there at the same time and at the same place, so....

There are always winners and losers, though if you consider your life as the aggregate of the lives of those close to you, it ain't a zero-sum game.

I think it can get complicated.

"Socially oblivious" sounds an awful lot like a wino excusing himself so he can take a leak in an alley.

If that's you, there's a lot you haven't shared!

Nah, that would be considered polite. Here in the forest you don't excuse yourself, that would be considered attention seeking, you just turn around and hit a tree.

How to tell the difference between country boys and city boys: two city boys are playing outside and have to pee, they run inside.  two country boys are playing inside and have to pee, they run outside.

Since the older generation has passed on we have the holidays at our place. Men go behind the shop, women go inside. It ain't the other side of the fence where the grass is greener. :scared:

True, too many are always searching, when in fact it's generally right in front of them.

Funny, my new neighbor just bought land next to me. This is Gods country, and both, he and his mom do nothing but stress over things that haven't happened and probably never will.
It's as if they are sabotaging their own future. I see it as winning the lottery and they'll be broke in no time and lose it all.

Does that make sense? Life is fleeting, worrying about things that will never occur is time wasted.

Makes a lot of sense. The type of person that would complain even if you used a new rope to hang'em. My wife calls people like that vampires, they just seem to drain the energy out of everyone around them with their complaining.

Those are the kind of people who can ruin your day, or could back when I was working and had to deal with them. Now it's just me and my wife, our dog, cats, chickens, the turkey, cows, and wildlife. We have no problems with any of them. The animals i mean. Got relatives like that, their situation in life has always been the result and fault of what someone else did. Sorry, not in this country, maybe in a socialist utopia, but not here.

My grandfather had the best attitude in life I have known, one that I try daily to learn by. He was a farmer, always had been. Last generation in my family to have been, the next generations farmed on the side, but had to make money elsewhere. His faith was in God, his happiness was in family. He had what he needed, if he had any wants, I never knew of them. He saw alot in life, he was 10 years old when Quanah Parker died, a fact that showed me how fast life progresses.

Have never been able to figure out men's urge to pee outside.  I spent six months with my brother at his home in a tiny rural Western Montana town.  One winter night, I walked out onto the front porch to have a cigarette with my bro and found him standing at the rail, tucking himself back in.  When I asked why urination couldn't wait until he could walk 20 feet to the bathroom, I just got the look.  I thought he was a total rube.

Later, I asked my husband about this.  My urban, sophisticated and very polite husband then told me that sometimes he simply wanted to walk out to the end of the back deck and let fly.

Is it just about wanting to show off the fact that you don't have to sit down to do it?

I'm guessing when indoor plumbing came about, the women went indoors and the men stayed out. Could be most of men's work was outdoors and why make the trip? Could be it was just a way to cut back on septic use. Before air conditioning it was more comfortable outside in the summer. Most early homes only had one bathroom.  Maybe it was our Mom's telling us,"if you can't aim any better than that, go outside!" I don't know but I have to admit this is the most I have ever thought about it.

That quote from mom says a lot.  Being a female, I never heard it.  Definitely something my grandma would have said, having lived with her two unmarried brothers until their deaths.

Well said P!
I might add. Getting older, it gets harder to drain the bladder and the colder air makes your muscles contract better and you can go more, which is why I'll stand butt as naked on the back deck and pee in the snow.
That way I won't be getting up at 3:00 AM to pee.

Yes, there are reasons for male behavior.
