Has anyone heard from our southern people kinda to the left of Mississippi? There's some pretty nasty storms rippin thru Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee. Talkin possible f4 or f5 hit Tuscalousa(sp)... a mile wide, footage was unreal on the weather channel. Headed south myself tomorrow to just outside Huntsville....
Just wondering if our southern people were ok.....
:-[
I have a call in to my brother who is in the Muscle Shoals area, West of Huntsville. So far, no response from him. Alabama has taken a bad whipping from these devastating tornadoes! I drove home to Mississippi yesterday afternoon~ from Bama. I didnt hit any storms until I was about to turn off of I-20 Interstate in Brandon, MS! I was a very lucky person to escape all of that mayhem!
Btw, the death toll is now at 178. :( I knew it would rise from 58 deaths as of last night!

I am here for who knows... text is spotty and so is my little antenna. we made it to Decatur, Al. Man alive what a black out is going on... the hotel just got its power back bout 2 hours ago.
from what we heard at mile mark 14 at some teeny little gas station, all of hunstville is without power. dont know when it will go back up. about 90%of decatur is without power. Radio stations are shutting down at an early hour and coming back on line in the morning. just outside of Athens the power is gone coming this way. But the main roads are starting to come alive. we are on beltline, exit 334 off of 65. right off 65 power,,,drive not very far nothing. residents have nothing. there is no way i am attempting to find dad's house in the drk in an unknown land. peopel are checking in from power companies to residents. some residents are talkin about finding people on roofs,,, others are talking about the destruction..... ok, off i go....... hope to get back tomorrow with some daylight vision..... they are talking up t a week for hunstville to come back on line. the nuke power plant is totally shut down. operational again due to power issues...unknownhope to cya ya tomorrow...gonna try and find some news on infinity....
so I am on an elfin adventure......... what can i say.....
Good luck finding your dad house MeLady.
Stay safe Elfie. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. :)
Thanks, ST, for your well wishes. My brother called yesterday afternoon and all is well. Cellular towers were down where he was located. :P
Again, thank you.
Tuscaloosa is devastated. Power is being slowly restored. Reports of looting in the city.
It's a fucking nightmare.
Huntsville/Decatur....they are talking up to 14 days for power to resume. In Decatur they are 12 hrs on 12 off. Dawn til dusk curfew. Restaurants whose workers wear uniforms can stay open til 9 so they say. Those without are closing at 7pm...Brother coming in from Fl,,,sights of caravans of power people. We saw the same thing from Tennesse down to here. Gas stations are 5 to 10 deep at all pumps. Land lines are spotty,,, cell service is spotty. No reports of looting,,,but the police force is out and very visible.
Done for the day over to Dad's. No power inside,,,cant see...bleck.....

Sounds like he did the right thing.
"Officers on the scene said the owner, who was armed with a gun, fell asleep and woke up to find someone inside his store".

Ya know what the tragedy is? This idiot thought he had an opportunity to get away with someones property, but what is sad, is he has put great strain on this poor guy that had to kill him.
I mean, how selfish this idiot was for putting the shop owner in this position.
Now the shop owner will go to bed every night with the last thought of the day being the reality of taking a life and the guilt related to that fact.
But some will pity the thief, and forget who the real victim, the guy that has to live with the fact he killed someone.
I have been in this situation before, even fired 6 rounds at the scumball, all on target, he was just lucky I was an excellent shot and didn't see the 6" steel cement filled pole in front of his chest due to blending of scenery.
But I am so glad I never killed him, I wouldn't want that on my conscience every day.
Yeah, this scum bag was purely selfish, not only was he taking someones property that he had no right to, he forced them to make a decision none of us honest people should have to make.

Hell, the Sheriff in Madison County got on the radio and told people to ventilate anyone breaking into their homes or businesses.
Yep same stuff here, the people are protecting their own. Nit before last, we ate at Applebees, the server was telling us he fully expected the Army to come in and shut them down. He also told us that a resident in his complex got broken into,,,the person was home and shot the intruder in the face... 3 businesses down from our hotel someone bashed out the
chevron window....
Our job here is don. Himself fixed her generator, someone had methodically put plant matter inside the carb. he got it all clean and cleared up and its u[ and running..
Sunday now,,, we are getting ready to head north..... I think I am gonna be really glad this is done and go home to my clean house and my kitties.......
ugh,,,,, unreal
Safe trip home MeLady.
How scary Elfie. Glad your heading home. 8)
