Title: middle 50's to the late 60's
Post by: offgridbob on December 12, 2010, 06:21:59 PM
I was asked the other day what was some of the best years of your life. After I answered I had to look back and figure out why. And I came up with>>> A young man could find work almost anywhere. Gas stations had an attendant which I was one at different times. Right was right and wrong was wrong and there was very little gray area. Boys and girls could go just about go anywhere with out fear of trouble. We didn't have to wear seat belt or bike helmets. We were taught about real respect and how to use our imaginations. Riding in the back of a truck was legal and exciting. People seemed to be more accountable for their actions. Police could use common since and I am sure there are a lot more. So what was your best years ?

I definitely agree with you Bob.
It's funny, when you pose this question to libs, they always bring up oppression.
Personally, I don't remember anyone being oppressed.

Well, we'd have to rename it. Instead of CPF, it'd be SMP -- Solar Mush Pit. Just a big squishy place where y'all can wallow around.  ;)

It's not even arguable that minorities were oppressed, especially blacks. I remember real estate listings in the classifieds describing neighborhoods as "mixed" or "colored." I remember newspapers and radio reporting the arrest of "John M. Smith, Negro." The South had the Jim Crow laws. My own father would not permit me to have one of my best friends come to our house because he was black.

The problem that Libs have is that they can't see past that. They're completely willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The fact that oppression existed doesn't taint everything else. Instead of simply fixing what was wrong, Libs want to fundamentally change EVERYTHING for the apparent reason that anything that existed alongside oppression was evil.

Is that stupid? Um, yes.

Granted, Jim Crow laws were found unconstitutional the year I was born, but I'm talking about my time here on Earth, living in Ca, we didn't have the issues the rest of the Country had.
It wasn't until the 60s when LBJ created the 235 housing law, and demolished public housing back East, then shipped them out here, did we finally see racism, and it wasn't from the White side, it was the scum from Detroit that brought us all the trouble.
All around the time of the Watts riots, blacks were fine and were working, but when the radicals invaded their neighborhoods and set fire to their own homes and business', all Hell broke loose.

No, I never saw oppression, until I saw Whites oppressed by liberals with severe guilt issues.

Right after the watts riot they showed a picture of a white cop billy clubbing a black women over and over again on the news. Years later I had the opportunity to meet that man. He told me the full story. His partner was being stabbed by a black man and when he went to help his partner a big black women got in front of him  and tried to stop him. So he clubbed her. Guess who was doing the filming ? It was a bunch of marshals. He told me it wasn't the blacks they were afraid of it was the marshals. He said they were behind every rock filming and taking pictures. Both him and his partner were arrested afterward by the marshals for civil rights violations. He told me if it wasn't for his captain sticking up for them he would have been in prison

In modern-day US, "marshals" has one meaning -- officials of the US federal government.

You guessed it TBone, our own government Jack Boots were trying to stop the police from interfearing with the riots. Whoda thunk it.

That would've been the LBJ administration. No surprise there.

Bill Clinton is a small patch on LBJ's britches. If you want to really understand how politics works, especially Democrat politics, study LBJ.

The man could sell ice cubes to Eskimos, make them happy about paying, and get them to vote for him next election.

Doesn't surprise me in the least, LBJ had no interest in helping the black family, he, or rather they, the Dims, were Hell bent on destroying the black family,.
And guess what? They succeeded!

It's always been "Here, I'm a Democrat, and I'm going to help you, you poor black person."

So lame, so thin, so stupid.

The Dems are SO invested in keeping black Americans separated....

They are trying right now, in front of our eyes, to do exactly the same thing with Hispanics. That's what the "DREAM" act is all about.

Their politics make no sense at all to regular people. They have no choice but to cater to every minority they can find.
