Oh really? Since when were supposed conservatives such fans of socalism and socalized medicine?
Am I mistaken or is this not a message board for expressing conservative viewpoints?
Unless you people haven't figured it out yet, Medicare is socalized medicine and just one more step towards collective oblivion for this nation and it's a very big step.

Are you so fucking retarded that you can't see that she posted a question to the forum for help?

All of medicine is politicized, even your own personal doctor has to follow governmental dictates, regardless of what you think.
In other words, if you go to the doctor and pay out of pocket, you too, are participating in the entire Marxist scheme, there is no escaping it until we change it.

So relax, stay healthy and know we are changing things, though slowly, but in the big picture of things, it's low on the list, we have a Nation to save first!

Dick... You're an OK guy, I can appreciate your demeanor, *most* of the time.  This is not one of those times which you're contributing useful information we don't already know.  I have SERIOUS questions, which, if you fall on the same kind of health issues I have, you might be in the same position.   So, just save it for now, sit back and read.  I need answers, not lectures.

I would like to know, because, unlike others here, I am NOT wealthy, and will be dependent on Medicare (and supplemental insurance).   As a word of ADVICE to people who feel quite secure in their income streams... AFTER you've gone through 2 or 3 major surgeries, which both altered your health / lifestyle and DRAINED you savings away - you may find Medicare is all-you-got-left.  If you got free cash - donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (like Rush Limbaugh did), 'cause if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't be here now.

I've heard there is an enrollment window for people with pre-existing conditions, where you cannot be denied, but there is a 6 month window around your birth date / enrollment date.  In my case, I turn 65 the middle of October.  I cannot afford to *miss* this period.

a.  Enrollment: Does that mean I'm already IN the enrollment period, or it starts in another month, the middle of July?
b.  Coverage per insurer:  OK, I'd like to stay with the same Oncologists - Probably best to just check with them...?   Does coverage VARY from Dr to Dr, with Medicare?
c.  My wife and minor children are NOT covered, by Medicare, so it's imperative I keep working to provide insurance FOR them, right?   (late bloomers, have children late in life - withhold your judgement, we're normal & I didn't rob the cradle)
d.  Medicare & no supplemental:  Talked to a co-worker this AM, he is on Medicare and 65.2, said he will start collecting SSN and continue to work, but said he'll be paying taxes.  He also said, he is maintaining Health Insurance through work, he is NOT taking supplemental insurance - but will when he officially retires.  Is he taking a risk of being turned down later in life... for any reason?  Say he develops a "pre-existing condition", can he be later turned down?
e.   Medicare cost:  I hear it can vary from state to state, is that Medicare or the supplimental that varies, or BOTH?  I would rather pay a little *more* and have better coverage, than go cheap, and find out the coverage excludes what I really need, if I need it.

thank you.

He doesn't care. I honestly think something happened to him in his childhood that affected him psychologically.

No nothing happened to me.  We're talking about you and whatever happened to you.

Did something happen between you and your dad?  Or an uncle or something?  If this is a sensitive subject, don't answer, but I would like to know.

Well it's obvious that something happened to fill your head so full of pure crap. Was it an operation that went horribly awry or is a  heridity kinda thing?

I have a very close friend, self-made millionaire, who sounds like him.  One day he said, "I feel like a proctologist.  All I've seen are assholes all day!"  We both laughed for several minutes, till one of us farted, "Now I heard from one too!!!"

One day, he fell down an open manhole.  1.5 yrs from retirement, he and his bride had the next 6-7 years all planned out, they were going to "see the world", finally do all the stuff his friends had done, he had the money and the steady income stream, no worries.  He crawled out of the manhole, both legs shattered, never to walk again. half-a-dozen years later, he collected several more millions on the lawsuit - never to walk again.  All he's got left - is a smart mouth, like Dick.

I was told Insurance would cover it...  I did the co-pay, my 20% came out of my HSA account, which we had maxed out, for emergencies.  So, that should have been 100% of the cost:  80% by Insurance, 20% by me, right?  Wrong.  I signed on the line that said I would be responsible for any additional costs not covered by Insurance - and that started coming out of my savings.

We both learned, as my dad often said, "You cannot BUY good health."
He also said, "Free advice is often what it's worth - nothing."
