Ahem. Look through a gunsight at the former, and STRONGLY consider porting all posts here from this YaBB-based platform into the much better PHPBB warez. I have always opposed YaBB-based anything.

Hmmm...today I could not get in for 3hrs. even now it is very slow. But all other sites are running normal.

Ask me a leading question, I give you an openly-admitted biased answer. Because the "authors" of these warez based it on YaBB.

PHPBB does have a nice porting-engine for bringing in YABB-based files for easy conversion to their system, and it also offers a visually near-twin to the page format used here. It isn't rocket science but it is easier to install, set up, and tinker with than YABB, according to numerous users in their members forum. It is also SUPPORTED by a vast number of users. Over at YaBB, if you were not an ubergeek they ignore you. Had it happen several times and just stopped asking for help as a result.

Bias aside, spending 11 minutes just getting to this thread becomes a MAJOR drawback to recruiting new members (particularly mobile users). Then the post hangs up just trying to get it entered, and then hangs up when I try to see the finished post (much less any preview). Either the page is blank or out-of-format with a vertical display of all member data, or some other weird stuff.

It's not the software, SMF is fine.

I got more than 3 of these in the last couple of hours.
There has been a problem with the database!

I know I am not on here as much as most but I don't seem to get the problems you are all listing.  If CPF is acting up for me so is my Facebook and any other thing I have up at the time.  Maybe I am just lucky to be on at the right times....

Developers for this stuff were once at YaBB creating that stuff. Evidently a schism of insiders broke away to form the outfit producing this platform.

SMF can trace its roots all the way back to a perl powered message board, YaBB. After awhile, there became a demand for a php coded version of YaBB. So that is where YaBBSE comes into play. While YaBBSE was getting bigger and bigger, there were certain aspects of it that just needed improvement and reworking. The decision was made that it was best to separate from YaBBSE because it was a lot different from YaBB and it was best to start from scratch. At this point, SMF started being developed. On September 29th, 2003, the first beta of SMF was released to charter members, SMF 1.0 Beta 1. While this was a huge milestone for SMF, only charter members had access to use it. But on March 10, 2004, SMF made its public debut with the first public SMF release available to everyone.

Yeah, I bitched and told them I am looking for another server.
I just paid for three more months, so they have that long to get their shit together.

This is ridiculous, it has been in and out nearly a 1/3 of the time.

I sure would like to see something done about dates such as Sept.29,2010 attached to many posts
on this board.Some of those posts I know for sure were posted well AFTER Sept 29,2010.

I have mentioned this in the past but it appears nothing has been done about it except one moderator trying to convince me there was something wrong with my computer.! :)) :)) :))

....my computer at works prints all my emails with "February 2010" in the upper left corner....I don't know why.... ;D ;D ;D
