Does the 2nd Amendment prohibit felons from owning firearms....?
People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A foolish man complains about his torn pockets.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

Good question, here is a court case but it involves non-violent misdemeanors where gun rights were restored. Personally, I have always been of the opinion that if a person if too violent to be trusted with a gun, why are they free to walk in society?  https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-court-guns-trump-20170525-story.html

QuoteThe two Pennsylvania men won a federal court ruling last year, the first of its kind, that ordered the government to restore their rights to own a gun.

QuoteLast year, he won on the 2nd Amendment claim before the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. By an 8-7 vote, its judges said the men should have their gun rights restored because they had not committed a serious or violent crime. However, the judges did not agree on clear guidelines about when gun rights should be restored.

Excellent point!!!

Nope! And for good reason, if everyone is armed, a felon wouldn't stand a chance.
The very same idiotic logic behind the patriot Act shit, disarm everyone who needs to fly, destroy our Constitutional Rights a little at a time.

A gun is a great equalizer, our Founders knew this. An armed society is a peaceful society.

The phrase "well regulated militia" presents a lever to the anti-gun lobby. If you want to ensure the individual has a right to keep and carry firearms without restriction, that phrase should be omitted.

They have strict gun controls in Chicago: are there less shootings?
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

Frauditors are a waste of life.

No, you need to understand the context of the day. "Regulated" does not mean controlled by the govt, it was akin to operating in a manner that it can quickly come together in times of need.
Hence, the reason every individual needed to be armed.

It has reached a point where no one would ever try to disarm American citizens. Can you envisage any path the repeal 2A successfully? They couldn't even pass the ERA.
Canada doesn't have anything like the 2A, but it would still be politically impossible to ban personal ownership of firearms. We have restrictions, but so do several American States. I own two handguns and six rifles, all legal. I've never had any issues.

If you shorten the 2A to read "Every citizen has the right to keep and bear arms," there is no room for mis-interprtation. It is clear and unequivical.

Ohhh, so your govt gave you the right to posses a gun? Gee, how spetchal is that?
This is where we differ when we separate the chaff, you got the schaft, we got the wheat.
Our govt didn't give us our Rights, God did, and if govt tries to fuck with them, they know they're out numbered by a million to on.

Your govt can simply take your guns at any time, via mob rule.

Every citizen is implied under the Constitution, as in "We The People". You have a very warped view of the US, you are under the illusion the govt controls the people, it is the exact opposite.

Gun ownership will never be clear to the liberals, it doesn't really matter how you word it. They do not want the people to have guns. Period.

Some friends of mine who were conscripted to fight in Viet Nam were given strong reason to believe the US government controls the people. Besides the Selective Service Act, I am sure w can come up with a number of examples that the Government choses to exert coersive control over the governed. Not every one consents to pay income tax but the tax is collected.

Like it or not, nobody is completely free whether in the USA or Canada.
