On this episode of The Resistance Library, Sam and David discuss a very important topic: youth gun safety.

With a firearm in one-third of American homes with children, it's very likely that, as a parent, you've thought about gun safety for your child. This statistic comes from Asking Saves Kids (ASK), a national campaign that encourages gun safety – something that may seem intense for a child, but is absolutely necessary.

Children are naturally curious. To learn about the world, they gravitate toward the new and interesting, especially things that often get portrayed as "taboo" like drugs, alcohol – and guns. Though it can be a nerve-racking discussion, an important part of preparing your child to be an adult is teaching them how to think about guns when they do encounter one, whether it's in your home or someone else's. The ASK campaign promotes one simple idea to help with this conversation, which is to ask one very critical question: "Is there an unlocked gun in your house?"

Funny, when I was growing up, guns were never locked up because it needed to be accessible to all family members in time of need.
We carried our guns to school, it was what it was, they were tools, nothing more.

My point is, the more focus placed on a gun, makes it all that more magnetic.
If you raise your children Right, you won't have any problems with them getting into guns.
Myself, I fired my first gun at 3, granted my finger was on the trigger, but my dad had to pull it and the 22 Cal made too much noise. No Thanks....

I didn't have anymore interest in guns till I was 5 when I wanted a BB gun, got one at 7, my brother and I still have both eyes to this day.
But everyday we took them out dad gave us a quick safety course in a minute, or rather, a quick rehearsal over what we already knew.

Do you ever point a gun at someone? Where is downrange? Etc... Of course we'd reply with "We Know Already"

Personal story: Dad had given me his M1-Carbine he carried in WWII, I was all of 10, Steve and I are in my room, Steve wanted to see the gun, handed it to him he pulled out the 30rnd clip out and laid it down on the bed.
After a few minutes he gave it back, I was pointing at things on the wall, slowly moved the gun and was pointing at Steve's temple, when I heard a voice in my head, "NEVER POINT AT ANYTHING YOU DON'T INTEND TO SHOOT"!!!

So I pointed up on the wall, and suddenly the gun went off. Yep it was loaded. Dad came in and said clean up the glass on the bed, nothing more, that was it.
I had shot the light over their bed .

So dad added another to our safety list: Treat every gun as if it were loaded.

Did I have good training? Nope, and neither did my dad who had to actually hunt for food, but like a hammer, you don't need to hit yourself to know it hurts.
But dad carried it everyday, I did not, so in looking back, it was obvious we needed a more 'Hands On' approach like the NRA does with their safety course.

But locking up tools? Is a ludicrous idea.

  Anytime a child is shot we all hear about it, unless of course it was the result of gang shootings. Truth is, children are killed by car accidents, overdoses, criminals, suicides, gangs, etc, and the media seems to be clueless that any of it is going on, and damn sure does not suggest locking any of that. Damn shame the media and democrat party uses a child's death  to further their political agenda.
Guns are not the number one cause of death among young adults. Accidental shootings are not even on the list. And yet there is a gun in over 30% of the households that have children. If we were to believe the democrats, gun accidents should be the number one cause of death among children by a large margin.
Like you, the household I grew up and always had guns, never hidden, and never even thought about a lock for them. I guess sometime in my mid 30"s I stopped using the gun rack in my pick up and went to keeping it behind the seat.
I got my first gun around sixth grade, best Christmas ever. Dad wrapped it, had a tube full of marbles in it so when you picked it up they rattled, you thought it was a game. Went from a little down in the dumps to cloud level in one instant when I unwrapped it.
My kids all learned early, the girls much later as they did not have as much interest as my son. Can't wait to start teaching the grand-kids when they are ready.
Long rant, a damp cold day and one bum shoulder causes that.

Exactly!

This Bull Shit is all part of a plan to demonize our 2nd Amendment Rights.
Now the mere mention of a gun is seen as evil, kids making guns out of toast, showing a hand looking like a gun is grounds for punishment?

I detest the idea of gun locks, and for this site to promote the idea slaps in the face of all responsible gun owners!
I want to hear how they defend the idea.

Want to know how much a liberal cares about child deaths? Ask them how many have died from the vaccine. More have died from the shot than from the virus. https://tapnewswire.com/2022/01/children-dont-die-from-covid-they-are-dying-from-vaccines/

I don't recall hearing that on the news.
