I have to agree with your choice of the Ruger 10/22 carbine. As for a large-cal 'pistol,' I'd have to go with a revolver, probably a K-frame Smith & Wesson in .357 caliber. More accurate, more reliable, and easier to maintain, IMHO. I used to carry an N-frame Model 57, but that's a VERY heavy sidearm, roughly 3 lbs. empty, actually a skosh heavier than Dirty Harry's famous Model 29. Shotgun -- Remington 870 or Remington 1100. Or maybe a Mossberg 500 pumper, on the low end of the price scale. I like your choice of the Winchester for a carbine, but for the money, the Marlins are the obvious and deserving choice. As for long rifle, I've always been partial to the Remington 788. I know, Remington hasn't made them for years, and it looks like warmed over shit, and the bolt rattles around in the receiver like the whole thing is coming apart. BUT... a 788 done up right, equipped with a good scope and with custom handloads, can match anything any Win 700 can do. I used to have a 788 in .222 Rem caliber that would print five-shot groups at 100 yards that I could cover with the tip of my index finger. (That feat required a steady sandbag rest and my handloaded ammo.) That rifle would also snuff out the life of a groundhog at ranges as long as 330 yards, something I did several times. The blunt truth is that, with that rifle, I could consistently hit a target the size of your eye at 150 yards. In my mind, that sort of accuracy is the reason for owning a long gun.

Just my thoughts....

I've never even heard of the "Pistolet Samoz..."  I've got to look that up.  Here's a list of my favorites, not necessarily a complete one:

Small Cal. Pistol - Ruger SP101
Large Cal. Pistol - M1911A1 (can't beat the good ol' .45!)
Small Cal Rifle - Anything that shoots the .22 LR...Tons of ammo available cheap, practical, etc.
Carbine - Ruger Ranch Rifle in .223
Long Rifle - M1 Garand or modern variants, runner up the FAL
Shotgun - Mossberg pump, 12 guage

The PSM is a Russian 5.45x18 mm pistol issued to police an' military. It will fire the same ammo as the AK-74.

Which Guns Do You Prefer?

I prefer the ones that don't get me on a list of gun owners.  Until recently, I thought that included 80% builds from companies like Ares Armor, but they were raided by the ATF and now all those people are on a list of first-to-be-confiscated gun owners.

Which one do I prefer? The closest loaded one when I need it.
