There have been polymer bullets out for a while now, rather a polymer coating around a lead bullet, this is the first I have seen polymer casing. The only coated bullets I have seen have been in pistol rounds, so I wonder if there is a problem with speed?

I could imagine a bit more expansion using a polymer shell, but I can't imagine any serious power loss, not even measurable at the target.
I wonder if someone can find comparative, side by side damage to a target? There must be a video out there somewhere.

Here's the problem we have in Virginia, small acreages don't work well with deer guns.  We're always shooting across multiple property lines, unless you're up in a tree, shooting downward.

The lighter rounds, 22 caliber and smaller are not legal, other states have it as muzzle energy, we have it as caliber.  Certainly a 22-250 will take out a deer at considerable range - 3800FPS muzzle velocity is quite effective.

Guys are using 300BLK for hunting, I'd rather use 25x45  (25-223) so I get a flatter shooting, little longer range - but... finding that in polymer - pretty doubtful.  I'm pretty much stuck reloading.  Nice thing about that AR-15 platform, just swapping barrels gives you a lot of options.

I'm more than a little concerned with sealing of the cartridge to the chamber, or these things literally exploding.  The velocity from that article sounded just fine.  Who knows, maybe they'll actually make one that can be reloaded?

A fellow shooter mentioned, what if they mandate all ammunition (polymer) has an expiration date, like Bill Clinton tried to do with Primers?   After 5 or 10 years, the polymer breaks down and becomes unsafe to chamber / fire in any gun?  Given the "greenies" in government today, can anyone imagine 50yr old polymer ammunition?   The brass can be recycled, polymer...?  That stuff would necessarily be bio-degradable.

Another reason why, I'm not throwing away ANY Brass.

There is still mostly empty shelves where I am at. It is a little better but not much.

For those of us that like to go out shooting monthly we cannot until we get more.  I have a good supply of ammo but it is NOT massive. Several thousand rounds but that gets eaten up pretty quick when you shoot several hundred rounds a month.

So anyone saying there is no ammo shortage is a closet gun grabber.

Too early in the morning for a joke?   meh, just mocking the guys who thought inflation & shortages would never, ever hit home.  I got 35yr old reloading components....  because a friend of mine had a big discount at Gander Mnt.  I probably spent too much there, THOUSANDS, and justified it to wifey as an investment.

...and since then, yeah, we've purchased a couple of new guns... which are hard to find ammo for.
