No More Ammo Shortages

Looks like Remington is back to fix the problem.

Remington, one of the largest ammunition facilities in the United States, had difficulty obtaining the raw materials needed to fill its capacity. As a result, employees were laid off, machines were idled, all while domestic ammunition demand reached unprecedented heights. With Vista Outdoor's management, production is flowing.

"Our workforce is doing fantastic, and our raw material suppliers have really come through, so now, Remington's going 24/7, and everyone will get to enjoy the quality ammunition that Lonoke, Ark. makes," Vanderbrink said.

Now under competent management, the Remington plant has a bright future ahead, and consumers can take a look at what's rolling out from the factory at Remington Ammunition's new website. As production ramps up, Vanderbrink highlighted the primary focus of the plant's new management.

"It took 205 years to build this brand, and we will never, ever sacrifice quality," he added.

Really?  You can get any type you want?
[
Did I say that? I said there is no shortages, like 22, 306, 44  12 or 20 Ga etc, I see the shelves having plenty at two gun shops and Big 5 as well.
Can't speak for anywhere else, but not here in the Sierra.
Not everyone was panic buying, most reload in Norcal because of the cost of ammo and an "In Your Face" to the commies in this state..

To be honest, I didn't pay attention to the brands, but now that you ask, they didn't look all that familiar.

If there is anything we all should have learned by now, there is not enough of anything in the stores, be it ammo or toilet paper or food or whatever, to supply a small panic buying attack. There is not enough production in place to replace any shortage of anything in a reasonable amount of time. I think most conservatives understand this and are better prepared than most. Almost makes you feel sorry for the liberals when they come to take our supply.

I was just joking about feeling sorry for the targets liberals.

Excellent point! I have more than enough of everything to last several years. Of course that comes from being a self made man (Conservative) simply being prepared for the next certain disaster, be it earthquake, fire or what have you.

City libs never prepare, they think having food in the fridge for three days is being prepared, or a couple of weeks of toilet paper in the hall closet will get them through.

Point is, I seldom buy to restock, since I'm already stocked so we buy in bulk, so looking at shelves full doesn't really catch my attention, it's the bare spots that stand out, and I can tell you, no one is buying Coke, all the other drinks are in short supply.
That's what I meant by not paying attention to full shelves, Coke isn't selling isn't these parts.

Sure didn't see this one coming.   All that reloading, resizing dies.. obsolete?

"A Garland ammunition manufacturer is on the shortlist for part of a multi-billion dollar U.S. Army contract that could make its next-gen bullets a staple among soldiers and consumers alike.

True Velocity, which makes lightweight bullets with polymer casing instead of brass, paired up with sister company Lonestar Future Weapons and defense contractor General Dynamics to bid on the massive "Next Generation Squad Weapons" contract that would replace the standard automatic assault weapons that Army soldiers use in combat."

This is gonna be really interesting - imagine how the neck of the brass casing expands to "seal" the gases against  the chamber.  Is that gonna work the same way?  Redesigned bolts that seal against the chamber?  And for the reloader, is 3d-printing cartridges next?  SAVE YOUR BRASS!

"It would be a game-changer for True Velocity, which has developed a polymer cased bullet that makes ammunition 30% lighter and could save 20 pounds of weight for a fully-equipped soldier. The company is capable of making about 58 million rounds of ammunition a year at its 80-employee, 66,500-square-foot facility."
-snip-
"Using composites and plastic-like polymers has been a goal of firearms innovators for decades, but few have had any success until recently in containing the explosive forces needed to propel a bullet more than 2,000 miles per hour. True Velocity's design uses a single piece of cartridge case made of lightweight polymer molded in and around a metal rim on the bottom. A brass projectile is still installed on the tip of the ammunition, making the bullet leaving the gun exactly the same as in previous generations.

True Velocity's ammunition made the cover of Guns and Ammo's July 2018 edition with the headline "Is Brass Obsolete?," which the magazine later said was the best selling issue of the year at newsstands.

Sig Sauer and Textron are pitching their own futuristic ammunition to the Army. Textron is bidding with a "cased telescope" ammunition that puts the projectile inside a polymer cylinder, while Sig Sauer is making a "hybrid ammunition." Both companies say their ammunition is significantly lighter than previous generations as well."

This would cut considerable wear on the bolt mechanism.

Hand loading.... not sure how that's gonna work out.  I'm saving ALL brass from here on, it's gonna be valuable to someone, at some point in the future.

Only for people who figured there wouldn't be a shortage & new gun owners - just the people who didn't plan ahead... ever.  Same kind of people who see a snow-storm coming, and rush to the grocery store for food that'll go past the expiration date before they open it.
